Over the past few weeks we have seen a massive shift away from a centralized, proprietary social media platform (Twitter) onto a decentralized, federated, open one (Mastodon) that along with a few other indicators points to the pendulum starting to swing back toward an interest in open protocols, networks, and technologies beyond social media.

UNIX shell nerd tricks
I have a bunch of different computers that I ssh into and it's nice to be able to see at a glance which one I'm using. In my per-machine zshrc I set HOST_EMOJI (eg: export HOST_EMOJI=🪸) and then in my general zshrc I include that in my prompt, including escape codes to set it in my terminal title.

@Riedeule Einerseits ja, weil bequem – aber andererseits… würde das wieder Zentralisierung bedeuten (wer managed dann das SSO? Das erste S steht ja für "Single"). Was mit so etwas passieren kann sehen wir ja gerade: Wer Twitter als SSO benutzt muss sich jetzt sputen das umzustellen, bevor der Vogel ganz tot ist – oder verliert den Zugang zu allen damit verbundenen Diensten.

Mein "SSO" heißt daher Keepass. So brauche ich mir auch nur 1 Passwort merken.

Why are people joining issue or specific Mastodon servers? I'm interested in many issues, and am curious about ones tied to #OpenSource #Sustainability & #Accessibility, but unsure how or why people choose.

Are certain instances going to be seen as being more legitimate? How will sustainability be managed as numbers grow? What happens if I move & that instance shuts down?

CSS class' "icon" property "height" causing distance beween two lines in profile views

The said #CSS class .icon has a property height: 48px which with current HTML structure causes a distance between two lines when I view a remote profile (view: /contact/X or a post (view: /display/X):

I'm sure, removing height from the said CSS class won't fix it in the long run but maybe checking the HTML/div structure would.

👉 🔓 Neuvedeno – nebude zveřejněno na veřejných časových osách, ale lze je zobrazit prostřednictvím vašeho veřejného profilu.
👉 🔒 Pouze sledující – bude viditelný pouze pro ty, kteří vás sledují.

Pokud chcete být na #fediverse sledováni, zde je několik tipů.
👉 Napište něco o sobě na svůj profil, nemusí to být osobní údaje, ale mělo by to dát lidem vědět, kdo jste a co vás zajímá
👉 Napište veřejný příspěvek
👉 Zapojte se do konverzací, sledujte ostatní lidi a nakonec získáte nějaké zpět.
👉 Na Mastodon se přihlaste přes web, přejděte na Nastavení Navrhnout účet ostatním , zaškrtněte políčko a klikněte na Uložit změny .
A hlavně užívejte na svobodné síti :mastodon:

já vím, chápu. Ale tím že omezíme jejich svobodu slova tak se stavíme do jejich pozic a neodlišuje nás nic. Nejlépe takové lidi umlátit reálnými a co nejpřesnějšími "fakty". Zatím se zde komunita Sputniku, Aeronetu apod. nepřesunula. Pokud ano čekal bych že si vytvoří vlastní server a v takovém případě ty jako majitel tohoto serveru máš nárok na regulaci.

Které aplikace mohu použít na Mastodon?
Pokud používáte Mastodon, tak oficiální webová stránka joinmastodon.org/apps má seznam oficiálních aplikací a aplikací třetích stran.Já na Androidu používám Tusky, ale dobrá aplikace je i Fedilab. Pokud máte vyzkoušenou aplikaci na iOs, dejte prosím vědět, určitě to někdo ocení 👍
