On Sol 1037 (three days ago) the Perseverance rover observerved this transit of Mars' smallest moon Deimos. This timelapse was made from 177 Left Mastcam-Z images and shows the event at 10x speed.
This sequence was from 177 Left Mastcam-Z images that were upscaled 2x using the Enhance function in Adobe Lightroom. According to the image metadata the transit was on January 20th and started at 01:32:18 UTC and lasted until 01:34:18 UTC.

At some point in this first quarter of 2024 we plan to mark the Alpha development phase of GoToSocial as completed, and "officially" enter the Beta phase. This will happen prettymuch whenever we get account migration working properly via the Move activity, and also implement a basic sign up flow to augment the current manual account creation process done via the CLI tool.
Every software development process is different, but in our case, Beta will mean that we consider most of the very basic features to be complete, the software is reasonably stable, and we can then start adding other cool stuff like better moderation tools, better oauth tooling, status edits, and that sort of thing (see our roadmap for more details).
It's been a long and interesting alpha period. tobi started GtS as more or less a hobby project during a period of day-job burnout at the start of 2021. They got GtS federating fairly quickly, started seeing the potential in it for more than just a hobby project, and then other folks like kim, daenney, f0x, and maloki jumped in to work on the project too, as well as a whole bunch of semi-regular and drive-by contributors. tobi kept working on the project during their absence from work, and then kept going after they left their job and started taking unemployment benefits, and then continued (spending their last savings) after the benefits dried up.
In late 2022 when Twitter shat the bed for the umpteenth time, we saw interest in GoToSocial skyrocket, which was both scary and exciting. Suddenly way more people were running the software and finding bugs and reporting issues, which was overwhelming and stressful but also very, very helpful for the stability of the software.
In 2023, we managed to get funding from NLnet to continue working on the project, which couldn't come soon enough since tobi was, by the start of 2023, completely broke. Thanks to NLnet, tobi could now work on GoToSocial full time without worrying excessively about money, which was a huge relief.
Now in 2024, kim is also working full time on GoToSocial, having also got an NLnet grant, which gives us a lot more confidence in terms of the sustainability of working on the software. It's going to be a good year for GtS :) Big thank you to NLnet for believing in us.
Throughout this whole period, people donated over and over to our liberapay and opencollective, which helped us to pay for our CI/CD development machine, and gave us a buffer for unexpected bills and shocks. Thank you so much!
Over the course of alpha we discovered a whole bunch of weird bugs, leading to many headaches and late nights toiling over fmt.Printf statements and writing tests. We made the software way more resilient and flexible in terms of how it federates, poked through the code of other AP implementations to discover and work around edge cases, and generally worked very, very hard on stability and compatibility. We're not 100% there yet in terms of which other softwares GtS can properly communicate with, but given how divergent AP implementations are from each other, and how many softwares do wacky undocumented things, we think it's going pretty damn well.

I’ve been building a #fediverse web app, “PieFed”, for the last few months and recently put a bit of effort into making it more accessible. It is almost WCAG 2.1 AA compliant now.
However I have no lived experience of using the web with disability so any feedback in this area is most welcome. Please give it a try at piefed.social and let me know what you think, from an accessibility perspective.
One thing I noticed right away is, there are some headings with numbers. For example, "138" followed by another heading "1". I guess the numbers are visually related to something, maybe number of views or replies, but with a screen reader, I do not know how they relate to posts.
I created an account. that went quite well, everything is labeled correctly. I ran into a problem with the table of communities it presents. I noticed there is a header that spans 2 columns that says "Community, sort by name". I am guessing that one cell should be the community name, and the other cell should be the join link. Both columns say "View community". Oh actually now that I look at the other columns, "join community" is the first column. The rest of the table looks good.
I will do more testing for you as time permits. I have my CPACC, so I am actually qualified to do this sort of thing. It's nice to be able to put it to use for an open source project.

Hlavně je offline u mě doma a umí všechny základní věci, které člověk k uložení a prohlížení fotek potřebuje. Intergrovaná AI celkem funguje dobře, sice občas označí koně jako lamu, nebo ještěrku, ale to jsou drobnosti! Fakt můžu doporučit.

From the Menus4all Web Site: iOS App discontinued on Feb 28, 2024 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the discontinuation of the Menus4ALL iPhone app, effective February 28, 2024.
Since Dec 2022, the app has provided over 1,000,000 US and 80,000 Canadian accessible restaurant menus to our users with blindness, deaf/blindness, and low vision. Menus4ALL not only enhanced independence, but also added joy to special occasions such as dates, holidays, anniversaries, and birthdays at restaurants. However, due to low sales, we could no longer provide this service.
We believe that assistive technology holds the promise of independence, and as technology continues to evolve, more breakthrough products will emerge. But until assistive technology products can provide enough return for investors, the funding to research, develop, maintain, and market products like Menus4ALL will not be available.
Currently, AI is a workable alternative for accessible menus. Although it does not offer the full features of Menus4ALL, AI can provide the core needs of reading a menu. Technology is constantly advancing, and in time, it may provide an even better solution. But technology is costly and investment is required.
We are proud to have provided a solution while we could. For 13 months, our customers enjoyed what we hoped was a premium customer experience. Although there were bugs along the way, we worked diligently since 2016 to create a technology that could address a simple but hard to solve problem, first as a website and then as a 5-star rated iPhone app.
If you have an annual subscription, please feel free to cancel. If you have a monthly subscription, Apple will not bill you any further. As we are a vendor of Apple, everything must be handled through your App Store account.
We remain hopeful that someone else will create a similar app to support the accessibility needs of our community. In the meantime, we recommend using Aira and Be My Eyes to fulfill your accessible restaurant menu needs.

I'm sorry to see it go also. I've been subscribed for five or six months and though I didn't use it often, was happy to do my small part to support an awesome service!
@GamingWithEars Me, too. I also didn't use it very often but it was nice to have when I wanted to peruse local menus. GPS apps do give you access to menus but Menus4All had a consistent interface that was easy to navigate.
I'm sorry to see it go. I had an annual subscription which I canceled before it automatically renewed. And I couldn't find a way to do the cancelation on iTunes with JAWS or any other screen reader. iTunes on the Pc has taken several huge steps backwards. I canceled on my iPhone.
@jpellis2008 I absolutely agree. If Menus4all can be made open source the community could choose to keep it going. I don't know what the costs were as far as the database they were using, though, but the app developers should be approached about it.
