Re: The Eclipse (boosts highly appreciated):

Sensitive content

I tried to switch to Alacritty for a couple weeks, but lack of tabs (and thus needing to use tmux) was annoying enough that I went back to Gnome Terminal. I don't like the sluggishness, but I like almost everything else. Gnome 46 fixes the sluggishness, mostly thanks to the VTE performance work of Christian Hergert. #Gnome bxt.rs/blog/just-how-much-fast…

github.com/superseriousbusines…

For adventurous admins updating to this release candidate, please read the migration notes carefully, especially regarding database migrations :)

Release highlights

  • Incoming and outgoing Move Activities are now processed properly. This means you will automatically follow other people when they move their accounts, and you can also Move your own account from your GtS instance to somewhere else!
    User docs here: docs.gotosocial.org/en/latest/…
Federation docs (for devs) here: docs.gotosocial.org/en/latest/…
  • You can hide your followers and following collections now! When hidden, your followers/following count will no longer appear on your profile, and your collections of followers/following will be hidden from other servers (and other accounts on your server).
    User docs here: docs.gotosocial.org/en/latest/…
  • Preset user-selectable CSS themes are here! In the settings page, you can now choose a theme for your profile, which will change how it appears in the web view of your account! For now we added 5 different themes to choose from, screenshots below!

in reply to GoToSocial

Updating to rc2 from rc1 is simple, updating to rc2 from <rc1 is less so, please read the migration notes carefully :)

That's all, enjoy! 🌸 🦥 🌅

First blog post about the work I've done so far on the #moxxy UI! I'd like to do one every month if possible, like Thunderbird does with K-9 Mail. Please feel free to send me feedback! #xmpp

Today is International Roma Day! I'm not seeing any notable news today, so go read something about the Romani Holocaust, or about how Roma are treated in Europe today. One survey has Europeans expressing worse view of Roma than of Muslims. europeandatajournalism.eu/eng/…

Tips for making posts more accessible to blind people:

-Add text descriptions to images & videos
-Make first letters of hashtag words capitalised, e.g. #DogsOfMastodon
-Don't use long strings of emoji
-Don't do "sarcastic text" with random capitalisations
-If you see #Alt4Me in a post with an image, reply with a description and tag #Alt4You (you can also reply with a description for any post lacking its own alt text)

“You can't know the totality of whatever topic you're learning. You enjoy the knowledge you receive in the pursuit of learning the topic. You keep a steady pace toward learning as much as you can. Instead of lamenting that you didn't start sooner you're grateful that you started at all.”
