That voltage and frequency range on this train socket is just… interesting.
Seems like they use something like a fixed ratio transformer from the source voltages of 1000-1500-3000 V with an optional simple inverter if the power happens to be DC.

I wonder what kind of appliance is safe to plug in. Despite the sticker, I think that switching mode power supply, like the one for a laptop would actually work well.

I'm still so angry about who was and very much was not in the rooms where these senate and congressional "#AI" meetings happened. Whose voices were either very easily talked over, or shut out altogether.

And I wish I knew some way to effectively stop the ongoing wholesale regulatory and paradigmatic capture of "AI," but all I can do is keep writing, speaking, organizing, and entering into existing communities of practice, when I can.

Sometimes that even feels like enough.

Mám Pixel 7a a ještě pár let přecházet na nic nebudu, ale je fajn vidět, kam se to posouvá.
A aspoň jsem se dozvěděl, že i já mám v nastavení Plynulé zobrazení (sice max. 90 Hz, ale stejně). Nicméně žádný vnímatelný rozdíl jsem z toho neměl. Hned pod touto volbou je "Režim ochrany displeje", kdy by se měla zvýšit citlivost displeje, když má člověk na displeji nalepenou fólii, což mám. Ale taky na první pocit nic nepoznávám. :D

@michal Já v lednu přecházel ze 4a na 8 a jestli vydrží stejně dlouho jako 4a, tak další bude Pixel 12(a) 😄

Na 4a mi nic nechybělo, jen mu skončily aktualizace a baterka už chtěl vyměnit.

Největší rozčarování byla právě baterie. Na 4a mi v pohodě vydržela 2.5 dne, osmička při stejném používání stěží 1.5 dne. Nicméně po pár updatech jsem teď na dvou dnech, což už je akceptovatelné.

If you ever deal with making bootable USBs, get Ventoy! Ventoy is a bootable USB system that you install once (via easy and working commands), and then any time you want to boot an image, you just throw the ISO file directly onto the USB FAT partition.
No repartitioning, no setting bootable flags, no dd, no UEFI detection debugging. It works on UEFI and BIOS.

You just boot to Ventoy, which displays a nice (and themeable) list of all your ISOs, and select which one you want to boot.

No more keychain of 5 bootable USBs for different OSes. No more “damn, I wrote over that installer and now I want to use it again”.

I have one USB stick, with my general data transfer partition, bootable Ventoy, and the ISOs for Mac, windows, five different linux flavours, memtest86+, rescatux, clonezilla, etc.

i made a little mockup of what i want posts to look like (approximately) in jankforum
it's basically what you'd expect, but note the "external replies" button, which would take you to a separate page where you can view any replies federated in from activitypub and/or other protocols
similarly external "favourites" etc would be counted in the overall "like" count
a fake forum post with placeholder information. it looks pretty much as you'd expect. on the left is some user information, at the top is the date of posting, and in the middle is the text of the post. at the bottom there is a panel with 3 buttons: Like (30) (with a heart icon), External replies (2), and Share
