@fedora How does the #fedora project feel about being in a tent that also includes nazis? How about @ubuntu, does this represent your values?
Does this match the values of public investor #linustechtips ?
Someone left their bike and helmet unattended outside the Information Technology Faculty building at uni and this little noisy miner bird took advantage of it and built a nest in the helmet. To the delight of all the staff who have been eagerly watching it for the last week or so, Mumma bird has now laid some eggs 😍

This is about Framework.
This is not about Framework, but every other OSS project that sees the current shape of the ongoing polycrisis and says "yeah, the fascists have a point, actually."
This is not about OSS, but about tech in general being a part of how fascism works in 2025, from DRM to AI.
This is not about tech in the current moment, but about the failure of the tech industry to grapple with IBM's role in the Holocaust.
This is not about tech. This is about everything.
Tech firms when courting public opinion: "our technology is visionary! It has the power to change society, to improve everyone's life! The impact will be huge and a benefit to everyone!"
Tech firms when they pull this shit: "we just think tech shouldn't be political."
I don’t think #Framework understands that they _are_ a political brand. They don’t have the best products, and they don’t have the cheapest products. They have products that appeal to _political positions_. By trying to keep “politics” out of their decisions, what they’re saying is that the **literal only selling point** of their machines is no longer valid.
It’s incredibly sad to see, because I was a fan of Framework until I saw this atrocious response.

This is apparently the result of decades of living with mold, though it was recently exacerbated by exposure to an especially moldy environment.

Framework has recently funded Hyprland and promoted a distribution made by DHH (someone commonly mentioned in their Twitter feed too).
Their response to criticism until now has been the following:
We don’t partner based on individuals’ or organizations’ beliefs, values, or political stances outside of their alignment with us on increasing the adoption of open source software.
You can read through the entire discourse thread, it's pretty depressing: community.frame.work/t/framewo…
I've seen this "neutral" drift enough times to know where it ends, so unless something changes soon, I'm afraid of the community that will stem from this.

Oh wow, the @frameworkcomputer team's reply to them supporting far-right racists is terrible: community.frame.work/t/framewo….
I don't want to spend money with a company that has a "big tent" policy and allows people to piss in it. I never want to be in a tent with people pissing in it. OSS does not need it.
Speaking as a German - this 'big tent' approach just doesn't work.
Today is a good day to write to support@frame.work using your shop email address. I will.

@frameworkcomputer, congratulations, your "big tent" is now a Nazi bar.

This is not a good look, to put it mildly. I really like(d) my framework 13, but got a MacBook last month. Felt kinda sad because using a framework was so much cooler from an idealistic way. Don’t feel as bad anymore now.

Hi, I am not exactly sure how best to frame this, but recent events have got me wondering where exactly Framework, as a company, stands with regards to human rights and equality.Framework Community
Hey, @frameworkcomputer -- since you like big tents, you should also welcome krita, even if the maintainer is a trans woman.
After all, you use Krita in your 12 laptop page...
So, how about you start sponsoring us, too? I think that becoming a corporate sponsor would be great?

This is a spin-off from #10 where I'd like some input from the team, concerning how to handle the following unmaintained apps with security relevance: * [x] [`com.github.IrineSistiana.plugin.simple_tls_android`](https://apt.izzysoft.de/packages/com.Codeberg.org
I'm a little confused about the Framework/DHH kerfuffle. Is the concern that he's a dangerous person to platform because he has a following?
I haven't read anything from DHH in years, but enjoyed the early 37signals blogs from him and Jason on bootstrapping a company. I guess I've been ignoring him, and I'm not sure why he's getting so much attention now.
Can't other people just ignore him?
1. put up a rant where he publicly say he is part of the great white replacement theory, calling non white brits "not brit". 2. he organised a hostile takeover of RubyGems.
So yeah, white supremacist and dangerous.

anybody have an idea why some recent FreeBSD update would have broken the ability of ssh(1) to attach to a remote machine using .ssh/config settings that set the HostName to an IP address, but it works if the HostName has an actual name? It doesn't seem to be *all* my ssh-by-IP-address items. Issuing with -vvv shows it hanging after
debug3: Fssh_set_sock_tos: set socket 3 IP_TOS 0x48
If I switch my .ssh/config to have "HostName full.server.name.example.com", it works fine, and FWIW, doing a `host $SERVERNAME` does return the correct/same IP address that was used in the .ssh/config file originally.
For now I've updated it to just use the hostname and it works, but I can reliably switch back and forth and trigger the hang every time. In case it matters, this was with the 14.2p6 I was running as well as the 14.3p3 I just (finally) upgraded to in the hopes it would fix the issue:
$ ssh -V
OpenSSH_9.9p2, OpenSSL 3.0.16 11 Feb 2025
Was looking at the source tree for something, and it has an AGENTS.md file with this item:
* Perform like a top 0.1% programmer
🤔
In regards to Framework’s latest footgunning, lemme reiterate two things:
1. Tech is and always has been political. Anyone saying otherwise simply wants to avoid being held accountable for their words and actions.
2. “Big tent” policies do one thing: loudly express that you’re perfectly okay becoming the neighborhood nazi bar.
This continues to be exhausting. This is a crappy stance from Framework, but you will never convince a capitalist that your rights matter more than their profits.
