I just saw a nice long email from the friend who visited us over the weekend telling me what a great t ime she had, the struggles of taking care of her mother who has dementia, and just wanting to chat in general. I realized the reason I was surprised to see it is because no one writes like that anymore, lol.

Being a U.S. citizen doesn’t shield you from ICE abuse. Wrongful detention, excessive force, and medical neglect can still happen during raids and often due to errors or escalation.

over 300,000 users are now securely communicating in Iran thanks to DeltaChat, while Briar and Bitchat users are holding their phones in the air trying to attract predator drones

security experts: ":baduk: but what if the NSA attacks them and they don't have the little bit of extra security Signal offers?"
RT: techhub.social/users/abbas_dp/…

To this day, while internet restrictions persist, Delta Chat has become the communication platform for a significant portion of users. There are no precise statistics available on the number of servers or users, but based on my own involvement in setting up servers and collaborating with other installers, and by averaging the user counts per server, I can estimate that over (250 Delta Chat host servers) with more than (300,000 users) are active in Iran and I know the actual numbers are far higher.

This report does not mention by name all the individuals and supporting organizations involved, but I sincerely thank every member of this collective effort. This event stands as a symbol of the power of free software and community solidarity in preserving decentralized communications in Iran.

The unlawful effort by the Trump regime to fine and punish the elected leaders of Minnesota and Minneapolis ratchets up.
“Subpoenas were served at the offices of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Attorney General Keith Ellison and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, a Department of Justice official said on Tuesday amid protests and an immigration enforcement crackdown in the state.” reuters.com/world/us/subpoenas…

In case any other #Blind people are trying to redeem their outage credit from #VerizonWireless the process isn't exactly straightforward. However, here's what I've found. Whether you click on the link in the text provided or merely just sign into the My Verizon app when you call into Verizon their automated phone system will tell you to click on take action. on the #iOS side you'll find nothing that VoiceOver renders saying "take action" but swipe until you get to your shortcuts one of 7 adjustable area. Then swipe up once and you'll hear something about actions. Double tap there and you'll be able to redeem your $20 credit on the resulting screen if you're eligible.

If I have covered your music, or maybe you are considering asking me to, can I ask a little favor? I also appreciate folks checking out *my* music, and you don't even have to review it to make me happy! So if you haven't before, give it a listen today?

Hello Delta Chat,
@delta

From the start of the recent protests in Iran, following the experience of the 12-day war between Iran and Israel and the experiences of the Aban 1398 (2019) and 1401 (2022-2023) protests, we knew widespread internet disruptions were coming. Earlier, active members of the free software community had set up internal Delta Chat relay servers on tiiiz.ir.
Relying on that prior experience, we conducted practical user tests with general users to observe their interaction with the application.
The result was clear: Delta Chat was far simpler for everyday users to understand and had a more intuitive interface compared to platforms like Matrix.

That’s why, together with community members, we began producing educational content for Delta Chat. The goal was to prepare users as much as possible before Iran’s internet was completely severed and localized.

As more servers came online, the user base also grew.
Volunteer teams across various cities in Iran introduced and installed Delta Chat for others, inviting server owners to launch their own decentralized networks.

With the addition of servers and contributors, initial issues were resolved, and new ideas were proposed and implemented by developers.
For example, each server’s installation page included a section for sharing user IDs. Gradually, more extensive documentation, security solutions, detailed introductions to Delta Chat, and other practical features were organically added to the network by various individuals.

What’s typically included in a firmware update for a keyboard? Or a MagSafe adapter? Just seems strange to me.

WARNING: Ring doorbell cameras now partering with #ICE

DO NOT USE!

As a general rule, if you use any kind of doorbell cameras they need to be offline, connected only to your own internal monitor that must never be bridged to any part of the Internet.

Ring however takes this problem to another level, actively sharing data not only with cops but also with ICE

Among many pieces of evidence about inequity cited in the latest report from Oxfam on extreme wealth & inequality is this:

Billionaires are 4,000 times more likely be holding a political office than 'ordinary' people...

yup, we are living in a system ruled by and working for the 3,000 billionaires in the world!

This is one of the coldest nights ever. Living in open area between the damaged walls makes the situation worser

I'm just thinking about how this suffering might end? We literally suffer in every single detail in our life. In the food, water, shelter, education, health. Literally everything!

Every morning we just think of how we'll end the day peacefully. We don't have big dreams. We just need a normal life

I have another great tip here for those who receive emails or documents that contain tables with rows and columns. I just discovered that if for example you receive a daily spam report from your email provider that is set up in rows and columns. if using Jaws, when you enter the table by arrowing down, use alt control and left and right arrows to navigate each cell and using alt control up and down arrows moves down one cell or row and reads it. My daily spam reports can sometimes be 50 pages long and using the above navigation commands really cut my reading time in half. Wanted to share this with everyone here.

In addition to my previous post, I have found on an iPhone if you enter a table within an email or any table, you can use your rotor by rotating with two fingers either clockwise or anticlockwise until you hear Rose and then you can flick left and right to move between each cell and flicking up and down will read that particular column and move you from row to row. This is also very useful and I had no idea that this even existed on the iPhone even though I have been using the iPhone for years using VoiceOver. I have not needed this function until now so wanted to share this knowledge with others here.

The princess left a note behind, explaining why she ran away.

"She disagrees with what she was taught," the queen said.

"Embroidery and such?" chuckled the king. "Classic."

"It's not needle-work she objects to. She likes that. She rejects the nobility of the nobility, and our right to rule."
