I am working on a GTK/#Relm4 password manager already 😎
But it is a client for #BitWarden/#VaultWarden only.
You want to build a local one?

I would love to apply, but I don't think I have the time :(
(Nor would my imposter syndrome allow it :))
Happy to see more Rust adoption though
in reply to FineFindus

@FineFindus don't let the imposter syndrome hold you back 🙏

But yeah otherwise, for a job you need time 😃

Ohhhh, very neat! Is there some kind of design document/feature document?

E.g., sync support 0:-)

in reply to Sonny

April 1st, the first Monday after the `xz` incident, is perhaps a bad day to post a job working on a security feature :toot:
in reply to Sonny

are there any specific requirements or an actual job description?
in reply to Sonny

I would hope that you're also including experience writing secure S/W. IMO that's the most important criterion for working on a password manager (and no, I don't qualify for any of the criteria.)

I know of one Jia Tan, he's pretty good with open source and critical infrastructure I hear and he's looking for a new gig

Loving the idea of securing more users, but why introduce another password manager?

How about improving one of the existing ones, integrating it more tightly with Gnome?

Take KeePass, give it a better interface but use the already developed underlying logic/infra?

Perhaps there is a proposal or some sort of analysis reaching this conclusion as the "best" one?

in reply to Sonny

Sorry, did not even see there was a thread. My bad, will read and then argue ;)

@nopatience Because the OSS community loves to reinvent the wheel dozens of times. It's part of it's charm.

Key Rack is a frontend to secret service provider that is 20 years old...

@thedaemon @nopatience

There is reinventing the wheel and then there is changing the tire

in reply to Sonny

That sounds like a super interesting project to work on!
