Always interesting how you get texts from people you'd absolutely not expect it from, but from the people who you'd actually expect it from you hear nothing. Well typical I guess. And I'm not targetting anyone who mighht read this here just fyi.

After recording 20 minutes of fireworks with my Zoom H1 Essentials, I'm now here to wish everyone a blessed 2026. 2025, in my case, was sort of a transitioning year, I've talked about it before, but mainly things have changed. I think with gods plan and blessings, 26 will be a good one, certainly better than 25. Happy new year from germany everyone, thanks for sticking around and keeping up with me lol.

What I'm trying to say is Santa is autistic.
It's interesting (in a completely non-judgmental way) to see from all these end of year posts how many books different people read in a year.
I'm someone who feels a bit lost without a good book on the go, and I usually read at least two (and sometimes up to six) books each week. Some people would undoubtedly consider that too many, but I unashamedly read for pleasure and entertainment rather than analysing and reflecting on each title in detail.
That does mean that books have great reread value for me, but also that in certain weeks I read more titles than some people do in a year. I work full time, but watch very little television and movies and don't play a lot of video games.
I take in a lot of Mastodon posts, tech-focused videos, tech-focused articles, and the like. From comments made by all these people, I sometimes think I'm the only person who doesn't miss wired headphones for my smartphone. I switched to bluetooth headphones many years ago and have loved them. No cable to get tangled with a cane or leash, no juggling my phone and a cable when working out, no cable snagging on a branch or door handle. I love bluetooth headphones!
If you use Airpods, the latency is bearable, but try some other BT devices, e.g. Meta glasses, and the pain of typing is excruciating! :)
Wow, then I simplly admire you! The typing is bearable but hardly practical for me personally!
Same situation for me, I find bluetooth latency unbearable. Also if there are several devices involved pairing is such a weird mess.
Latency, except with airpods, is annoying. Does it really make bt headphones unusable on the go? Not at a. One is not typically typing a book in iOS with bone conduction headphones or whatever.

tip of the day: If you're looking for an assistive technology specialist at an institution for the blind, I don't hink it's a very good idea to have a driver's license as a requirement to be considered for the role. By enforcing such a requirement, you're essentially cutting off the people who would be the most capable of performing that particular job. With my reverse proxy doing its job. I've now migrated from joplin cloud to a selfhosted joplin server 2 months before my cloud plan expires. Well, I like it though.

The entire analog section of my Mackie ProFX 12 V3 mixing console pans ever so slightly right, when the controls are dead-center. Nothing I've done, in as far as cleaning maintenance has fixed it, so I think its a more fundamental permanent problem that likely requires physical electronics skills beyond my own. So I can either go hunting for another small 12-channel console that does ultimately what I want, which is feed at least three stereo pairs, and one phantom-powered XLR to a pair of XLR-connected studio monitors, and provide buses of all this to/from the computer. Or I can simply do what drivers do when their cars pull to the right. Just keep the wheel a bit left. I can set all the pan controls on all the channel strips to what sounds like center, as opposed to what feels like center with the de-tent.
If I had all my analog synth stuff, and more junk that I never had, I'd probably want a good analog console for that stuff. But yeah, mostly for what I do these days, it's all in the box. I really don't need a lot of things connected anymore, my audio interface has routable outputs, there's virtual junk and loopbacks when needed, but it's a totally different thing.

třeba u nás ve vývoji OS je to pořád málo, protože se stejně 70-80 % času tráví hledáním řešení a domluvou jako to udělat a jen 20-30 % psaním kódu. Problémy jsou u nás celkem komplexní a požadavky na optimalizaci velké. Ale v aplikačním vývoji v jasně zdokumentovaném prostředí (třeba různé BI aplikace na platformách MS) se dnes už téměř výhradně vibecoduje a prý to celkem funguje.
Messaged my son's mum to tell her I was missing our son, basically, and could they give me a call. Three hours and 10 minutes ago, she told me they were just tidying up. I guess it must be a big tidy up because still no call. Not how I wanted to be seeing out 2025. Predictable though. I would never do that to her.
@tardis I will. thanks. We have scheduled visiting, but being written out of his New Year is hard if that is how it ends up being. Doing things that I want to do or sharing time with other people shouldn't come at so much of a cost and it is exhausting.

@Bri Yeah. I thought that’d be the case. I had an XR before, so I can probably use my muscle memory to figure out the gestures and stuff. I had Face ID set up as well on my XR and I loved it a lot better than Touch ID.
I'm largely not a fan of it. It doesn't work more than it does for me, and let's not talk about if I want to unlock my phone if it's in my pocket or similar
