New place means it's time for a new #introduction!

Hi there, I'm Jules. Been running Linux since 2010 (first encountered it in 2009) and Haiku alongside it since 2020. Some folks may know me from across the rest of the internet under various aliases; find out about those from Meanderspace's The WWW page:
meander.site/www

I've contributed to various open-source projects over the years, primarily with packaging (HaikuPorts, openSUSE, KDE Flatpaks), artwork (Haiku Community wallpapers, Budgie Backgrounds, KDE Konqi artworks, etc.), and
ports for Haiku (VVVVVV, Sonic Robo Blast 2, SDL Sopwith, etc.) from time to time.

Also a big foodie who likes to cook, likes exploring less well-known technology (hence the Haiku stuff), and always looking to learn more. Oh, also a big fan of theming in general; theming is a digital extension of a person and is an artform which should be recognised as such! Alright, that's enough rambling on from me for now.

It's so silly that when I type out what really happened vs the lie, you won't believe that most white people in the Bay Area, and in the US, believed the racist lie. Many still do.

What really happened:
* SF had too many drug stores. Many chains were losing money.
* So there was consolidation. But the buying firms now owned too many stores in SF. They literally wrote in earnings reports that they planned to close many stores.
* Then the pandemic happened. Foot traffic dropped.

What people believed:
* There were a few videos of homeless folk running out of drug stores with trash bags full of toiletries and candy, like toothbrushes and snickers bars. Of course, all of the videos of homeless folk that made national news, featured Black shoplifters.
* The drug stores closed their stores as part of their merger plan, as they promised they would.
* Racists said the Black shoplifters made the drug stores unprofitable! Not the billions in lost pharmacy revenue.🤡

Mozilla, reading the room extremely well, seemingly just recently flipped the switch to enable-by-default sponsored weather results from AccuWeather in every new Firefox tab you open. Clicking "Learn more" takes you here, with zero information on if your location is sent to AccuWeather every time you open a new tab: support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/c…

Probably only noticed because I normally have a blank new tab page but this showed up after updating Firefox!

Introducing Casilda - A Wayland compositor widget!

A simple Wayland compositor widget for Gtk 4 which can be used to embed other processes windows in your Gtk 4 application.
It was originally created for Cambalache's workspace using wlroots, a modular library to create Wayland compositors.
Following Wayland tradition, this library is named after my hometown in Santa Fe, Argentina
