It looks like somebody had one job to stick this floor sticker at Schiphol right. It ended up asking people who arrived by train to check in and people who just landed to "check out train."

Yes, sure, do check out train but then if you decide to take it, don't forget to check in before your ride 😉

I wish there was a tool or DLL hook that translated calls from NVDA Controler Client to JFWApi, that is all. Sadly, no such thing exists, so unless I can recompile sourcecode, I guess stuff designed for NVDA-only won't talk to JAWS. Sad times today. (update: one does exist! at nsstudiosweb.com/ on the programs page, this is awesome, happier times!)

ahah hugs back! Wish I could say that it is old, but they're like, pushing the edge with their new face-in view and things. Not to mention the Leasy scripts you can buy for JAWS. Sometimes I crave it like crapes in Hungary, you know? Especially the ones with Cacao powder in it, yum yum. Either way, yes. It would be nice to find something that makes the apps made for one or the other flip to talking to one they don't support, but guess in the computing world, we can't have everything either.

Aww. Yay crapes! I can make those, kinda hard and we need a crazy sighted soul to flip them, but mmm. That with chocolate. :D When I was in the US I wanted to go back home and eat every single possible Bulgarian food available. So I was eating cold yoghurt soup a whole week lol it was summer.

Also, everything older that uses Sapi works with both readers. So, I wonder. Hey, old Bulgarian voice from when I was a baby, super tool for catching people's spelling mistakes too, without a checker. I had a friend of super awesome best person who owns the instance and he the friend disassembled the dll and now it's gotten a faster rate so you can't have everything, but I guess, you can pout at the world. :D

Uh, buddy. You're confusing Java Access Bridge maybe? The repo it links to does not even exist: github.com/Elv1s42/jaws-access… - that's right. There goes GPT hallucinating links again, conflating information it may have little data about. This is why I don't yet trust it as a search tool, not for everything, that is. Sure, finding info about hotels? Airlines? A software component's purpose or something? Yes.
Using it to find an obscure function call or what overridable method calls a certain DLL supports? Forget it! This is proof, do your homework, because such a thing does not exist either, and if I would have trusted GPT I would have been duped.
When they first launched their Search GPT thing, I stayed quiet, and now you know why. While people keep raving about it in mainstream media, I don't.

@WeirdWriter don't think there was ever a project that did it, to be honest. I tried to research the project by name on Google to see if it's even mentioned on mailing lists or other sources but nope. So I'm calling this one made-up until someone can confirm it did exist in the past or something.

@esoteric_programmer @WeirdWriter aah this is superb, could even be used with WSL however or virtualized Linux machines, super cool. As long as the VM has that internal port mapped that should work too, so I think I'll find these useful in other situations :) very neat!

yeah, I don't know of any either, however I got involved with a different side of the lenze, making apps which only speak to nvda, also speak to speech dispatcher on linux, and here comes what I did in this part of it, making apps which speak only via the tolk API also speak to speech dispatcher on linux. So anyway, this could technically be changed to speak the jfw api using com, because only the server has to, the dll that injects those functions uses websockets to talk to the server, so technically speaking this could even work network wide. Anyways, here are some relevant links, consider it prior art

here's the original nvda2speechd library, server included

here's a python server someone else made, which means you don't need rust for that part of the component, but the client is a dll, so yeah, rust is still required there

and here's my spd tolk bridge, which uses a lot of the same structures as the original nvda2speechd, for compatibility reasons, so it should technically be usable with both the rust and the python server implementations

I have no idea how com works in detail, what interfaces you have to bind to, if there's any docks about the com interface of jaws, but the rust server of nvda2speechd compiles on windows, there are com libraries for rust, you just have to either have typelib files from somewhere or a manual in which they're described, then the binding generators should do the rest for you

@enne @TheQuinbox oh I wonder if it's just a mismatch between the controler client functions that are in newer DLLs and the slightly older one? Not sure, it's very minor but in my audio game, they use both polite and assertive-type notifications. The polite ones don't queue but instead behave as though they're assertive as well. Otherwise this is so solid and I'd totally do a donation to the slight / or the projects because stuff like this isn't two seconds of time to construct.

@TheQuinbox Updated the zip with the new build that doesn't force interrupt with JAWS, also put the interrupt-forcing version under the interrupt subfolder just in case that might be useful in certain situations.

@luiscarlosgonzalez @TheQuinbox so if you have your game or program, inside of it there's already an NVDA Controler Client 32 (or 64) .dll file. I would recommend backing that up or adding a .back to the end of the file, but then you need to paste the two corresponding files for either 32 or 64.

That is very noble of you. But I certainly wouldn't fault you if you made a donation link at least easier to find. Free software only exists because its developers are in the privileged position of being able to afford the time for maintaining it. If a FOSS developer wants financial help, I think it's totally okay for them to ask for it. I think it's okay for FOSS developers to also have some "benefit". I agree with not soliciting reviews, being able to pay people to work on the project would make a lot of stuff easier and would lead to faster development.

For example, it's impossible to expect someone to do a code review in a short amount of time when they're not being paid for that work.

I know you're aware of all of this, but wanted to state it explicitly as this example and many others often get overlooked.

I’ve told LF (and others) repeatedly that “education” as the leading point is insulting. Many maintainers know exactly what they need to do, but they lack time and energy for it. Lecturing them, I mean “giving them skills”, is… rarely the need or solution.

But “education” allows LF (and friends like GH) to continue elephant-in-the-room-ing the actual solution, which is paying maintainers for the trillions of dollars of value they create.

Or to put it a different way: open source maintainers are some of the most verifiably self-taught people in the history of the world, *when they want to be*. Happy to dig into tools, Google, books, mailing list archives, source code, stack traces, whatever. *If they’re motivated and have time for it.*

Saying “what they really need is… an online course” is… actually a tacit admission that what’s actually missing is time and motivation.

Pořádný krajíc opravdu dobrého chleba dokáže udělat skvělou společnost prakticky čemukoli – můžete na něj jít s máslem, marmeládou, sýrem i šunkou. Dáte si jej k polévce i ke guláši a vždycky se z něj dobře najíte.

Nearly all clients are connected via ipv6 on my server, but you can never be sure, people can use a stupid wifi etc. So it's good to have a turn server just in case.

My Alditalk mobile contract gives me ipv6 @daniel
Some in my family had ipv6 not enabled in the APN settings. I turned it on then then it just worked. Don't know why it isn't always the default.

May very well be that it is newish for some carriers.
Progress 🎉

All in all I have the feeling Germany has nearly full support for ipv6 everywhere. (not in corporate networks, OK)
But it isn't bad anymore.
