Kupoval jsem s dcerou před pár dny vánoční stromeček. Chtěla, abych koupil trochu větší než obvykle. Prodavač mi říká "nechcete ten kmen dole zúžit?", já říkám "to je dobrý, máme velký stojánek a kdyžtak si to osekám". Sekyrkou je to přece hračka.

Dnes jsem se do toho dal a dost jsem se opotil, když vidím, že ten stojánek zas tak velký není, a když jsem si uvědomil, že tu trampskou sekyrku, kterou jsem měl úplně jasně před očima u toho prodavače stromků, jsem vlastnil naposledy před asi čtvrtstoletím.

Nakonec jsem vzal ten nejtěžší kuchyňský nůž a udělal z něj mačetu. Kůra a lýko šla dobře, dřevo a suky hůř, ale už to za chvíli bude. Jsem přece bojovník, že ano.

Day 23 - #adventOfIOSAccessibility. Sometimes your UI will just not optimally scale for large text sizes. Simple changes, for accessibility sizes, like composing elements vertically instead of horizontally, reducing the number of columns, and allowing more lines of text, can do the trick most times.

In the first one, the symbol and name are at the left of its row, there is a small graph in the middle, and the value and percentage change to the right. In the second one, the symbol, name, value, and percentage change are at the left, taking most of the row width, and the only thing to the right is the graph. That gives plenty more horizontal space for the text.

So with all the scam baiters we've been watching, my partner got us the couples Aura membership. This morning I got an e-mail: "Important, Aura, We contacted 21 data brokers to have your info removed, 5:20 AM, Learn how Aura is protecting your information Hi , Data brokers (also known as people search sites) expose you to junk mail and spam calls by selling your data."
At first the $200/year (couples) membership for it felt like a lot, even if there's a trial. Sadly the more of a modern society we live in though, these services are becoming so essential - not just data broker monitoring, but also the credit fraud and identity theft prevention, VPN, and if you want, their own antivirus software built-in to their interface.
It's fairly accessible, sometimes the labels can be verbose. Sadly an XAML-based app that sometimes likes the read out the internal object names of UX elements, that kind of deal. I still say though, if you want peace of mind for your data and knowing what's up with it on the dark web, get Aura, you won't regret it. We used aura.com/kitboga because we love Kit.

I just released version 0.1.0 of rsop-oct, a new stateless #OpenPGP ("SOP") CLI tool that focuses exclusively on use with OpenPGP card hardware devices:

Like its sibling project #rsop, rsop-oct is based on @rpgp

In the next release of rsop, OpenPGP card functionality will be removed from it.
The goal is to offer clear UX in two distinct simple CLI tools, as opposed to one combined and confusing CLI tool.

I looked up the enterprise management features of the Firefox and Chrome browsers and wrote down how to turn off the advertising features once by installing the right config files in the right places. Not hard and affects all accounts and profiles, so a big time saver

This, paired with Joshua Riek stepping away from ubuntu-rockchip, doesn't bode well for RK3588's SBC futures.

Maybe why Radxa is going with a different vendor for their next flagship board, the Orion 6?
