@menelion I hardly ever use LLMs, but when I do, it's usually:
"How to make this work in TypeScript?",
"Please fix this TypeScript",
"Now please fix it again",
followed up by: "Please explain how this TypeScript code works".
… I see a pattern emerging here.
My latest Svelte + TypeScript project has two or three functions that are entirely ChatGPT typed and that I could not reproduce with the best of intentions.
The basics I can grasp well enough, mainly because there is some overlap with Python, but some concepts like complex generics and overloads… no, just no.

I haven't interviewed any job candidates in the last few years since my role has changed, but a fun question (which had nothing to do with the actual interview) I would ask is "Do you know where the term Little Endian vs Big Endian originates from?" And of the dozens of people I've interviewed, zero of them know.
Spoiler alert: It's Gulliver's Travels. Which end of the egg do you break first?

WTF. EV Charger was in a "OTP" fault. Turns out the rubber cap that goes on the plug has the opposite effect of protecting it. It's letting water accumulate in it. Now it's corroded.
Maybe I should finish that cabinet to protect it.
Something like that:

(sorry for the reddit thread)
Has anyone a hint on the best way to address the corrosion?

What tool do you reach for when you want something with the core functionality of Syncthing, but you don' t want the whole Syncthing?
bidirectional syncing, latest copy of the file wins, I get to keep a local copy on my computer, doesn't need a full bloated app with a web interface?

I guess I need to give folks what they want! 😆
There are two ways that servers on here can accept new members:
-Sign-ups where you join instantly
-Sign-ups where the server moderator has to manually approve your membership
Approval sign-ups make moderation much more effective, but some people seem to find them more difficult.
If you are someone who finds approval sign-ups more difficult, could you explain the main thing putting you off?
(By the way, this isn't meant to be judgmental, just want to find out what the main barriers are! 🙂 )

has the ability to encrypt with non-tuta-users in this fashion always existed?
i asked you about encryption with non-tuta-users in a previous conversation on here, and while some questions were answered, this part was not. so i was left with the impression, that encryption exists among tuta-users only for 2 years or so now 🙈
I’m actually in favour of increasing our military spending, mostly because I anticipate the US deciding at some to point to switch to military means to annex us if their economic measure aren’t successful.
What worries me is how much of this new spending is going to be directed right to the hostile country that’s threatening us.
We should be lessening our dependence on the US militarily just much as we should be should be lessening our dependence on them economically.

Mark Carney promised to increase military spending to two per cent of GDP, and he does so in his first budget. The cost to nearly everything else government does is considerable. https://rabble.rabble.ca (Mastodon)
