One of my current pet peeves with "signing in" to basically anything these days is that I immediately get a message urging me to "stay logged in on this trusted device."

Now, I know in most cases that's mainly about tracking people around the Internet (especially if they use something like "sign in with Google" or "sign in with Facebook"), as well as gathering information about site users that can be sold/remarketed to others. It's just being presented as a "convenience," not a privacy invasion.

But my immediate gut response is always "What makes you think I trust this device?!"

Hi everyone! I'm hiring another XP (Extreme Programming) senior software engineer to come work with us at OpenSesame. This is a fully-remote position and we're looking for folks in Canada or Latin America in Eastern or Central time zones.

You'll help mentor a team in using XP practices such as TDD, pairing, and continuous integration. Most of your work will involve leading by example as the team adds features and tests to our legacy PHP codebase.

I'm not seeing a good upgrade story right now for pkgbase FreeBSD 14.3 to 15.0. I have the compat14x installed and just want to upgrade the base, not my "ports" yet. This used to be a pretty common (for me anyway) practice if you had slower update schedules and you would be getting major package updates too. First make sure the base is solid, then start upgrading services.

When I try to force it to only work on the base repo it thinks it has to uninstall all the FreeBSD:14:amd64 packages?

I can work around it by just disabling the base repo and deleting its package database, do my normal manual upgrade method, then run the pkgbasify script to register the packages and move on. They should have major upgrades improved by the time 16.0 is ready.

So are we all gearing up to reconcile the "Epstein files" from the DOJ with already public information about Trump's schedule and activities?

As in, if they did a naive scrub of the files it won't match up with already public details.

You wouldn't ordinarily expect the DOJ to hide evidence from Congress or defy court orders but the Bondi DOJ is not your dad's DOJ.

Usually, I don't like adverts, but I applaud this one (Found on Instagram, the ad is located in Brixton, London)
