@quanin Yeah that works as well. Problem is, I have so many feeds that if I receive an email per item, my email provider would have issues. And it's too much of a hassle to host my own, for now. This and other aggregators like Miniflux are very convenient, but I guess you can have a convenient email template too, if you have one email every 5 minutes with the updated items of all the feeds.
@quanin Thank you very much for the offer. I am currently okay with the email service I use, but one day I am very likely going to host my own. I just don't have time to deal with removing blacklisted ips, domains, spam, etc, at the moment.

@quanin Thanks. Yep, I've seen this when I was looking for an RSS aggregator years ago. I think there's an Aur package for Arch, which I am using.
Yeah, email hosting also depends on what provider you go with if you use a dedicated server, lazy blacklists are just blocking whole ranges and your ip might turn up somewhere just because someone else was sending abusive emails within that ip range. Google's also keen on doing this, or flagging it as spam and then all mail ends up in people's spam folder. But apart from these frustrating things, it's absolutely worth it of course. It's just hit and miss really.
Go with Linode. They've started defaulting to blocking SMTP unless it's explicitly requested. I'm grandfathered in, but you won't be if you don't already have an account with them.
@quanin Ah, that's a good idea, thanks. Will have to look. I'd like to avoid US-based servers, but I am sure they have EU ones. Email hosting is one of my long-term projects, just never have enough time to sit down haha.

It improves all aspects of interacting with NVDA, so I can't imagine moving to the older/slower interaction approach with the upcoming alpha release. Too hard to make it optional I'm afraid. It causes problems with touch exploration that we're not quite sure how to solve yet. I have some ideas, but not sure when I'll have time to look into it further. But FWIW, I'm sad too.
I'll likewise be running an outdated alpha for a while. It's surprising how fast I've gotten used to the faster responsiveness and going back is going to be too painful.
Err, to be super clear, I obviously accept the consequences of my actions. If it breaks, I get to keep both pieces. Just in case someone decides to interpret my personal choice to run an outdated build as an actual recommendation or behavioural endorsement. :)
Yeah - same here! It tremendously affects all machines - from old Windows 7 laptops to modern Win 11 desktops. The more saddening point is that I don't have a touch display to worry about the issues, so letting this huge benefit fade would be a huge loss! I also want to keep the current alpha for a while <smile>.
Indeed, but keep in mind that NVDA can't afford to completely break some users for the benefit of the many. I totally agree with the decision to revert this, even if it saddens me.
Your point is well taken. But without your commit, NVDA becomes - once again - slower than JAWS and, as an NVDA user, I can't digest that easily! Moreover, with your commit - and in tandem with your audio-oriented changes, I was able to use my old Bose headphones with NVDA, comfortably, for the first time. Losing that one would be yet another huge blow.
I have not. One thing I haven't tried is completely uninstalling NVDA, removing all configurations, and reinstalling. For a proper report, I'd need to do this. I'm very reluctant.

Is it at all possible that it is actually checking for updates, but because the dialog comes up in the foreground, you're unintentionally dismissing it while typing without even realising it came up? 2. Are you behind any kind of proxy and/or could your system have weird proxy settings somewhere? 3. If you manually check for updates, does that work?
Checked for all of those issues. I can understand if me dismissing the update dialog happened once or twice. But, if I trace back the issue, automatic checking hasn't happened since the latest public release of NVDA. Manually checking does work. I have no proxy setup. I've checked all the usual Windows suspects like firewall.

1. Searching my gmail for Hashimotos turned up results that only contained the word "thyroid." To make the search work as expected I had to put that single word in quotes. But several excellent threads from folks like @JesseF8693 helped to clarify how valuable this small amount of front-end work can be, and now it's just a habit, and one of the things I enjoy the most about posting here.

You can edit alt text after posting in the main interface. Semaphore does not have editing capabilities. When logged in via the website, after viewing a toot you want to edit, click on more below the toot and click on edit. Edit the image description then hit save.
