I'd like to think #fedora with #gnome is a real operating system, but then not configuring templates and thus #nautilus not offering to create a new file - is some decision.

Can't say it's smart to force people to either create those templates or find a terminal and run touch.

#Gnome #Files (#Nautilus) has a bulk rename tool for some time now, but literally every single time I try to use it I fail. Really, everytime I need to rename batch of files, I try it first in this tool, I recognize that my task is not possible done in it and than start totalcmd in wine just for this simple operation.
Are my needs so advanced? I don't think so.
For example now I want to add xml extension to all badly named log files. Impossible.

The reviews for Nautilus aren't that bad. It's a reimagining of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and apparently a much darker Indiana Jones. I might give it a try and just know that it's not coming back.

As the #Nautilus team keeps making progress in refactoring and optimizing #GNOMEFiles, we can see #GNOME's file manager steadily becoming faster.

Among the few performance issues remaining, I believe the probable "Final Boss" of search performance is this issue, which would require some refactoring across the views. Anyone up for a challenge? gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilu…

Huge thanks to @kabushawarib for eliminating the flickering that occurred in #GNOMEFiles 46's "Global Search" feature! This should help performance a bit, and improve #accessibility for light/motion-sensitive users.
If all goes well, the bugfix would probably make its way into #Nautilus 46.3, I presume.

Wanna help out an old-school utility that just recently accomplished its port to #GTK 4? The "File Roller" compressed archives utility needs your help to fix Drag & Drop files/folders extraction to #GNOME Files (a.k.a. #Nautilus). Technical investigation and/or patches would certainly be quite welcome. gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/file-ro…
