The index was spoiled by huge amount of fake domains leading to a badly configured Mastodon instance. This combination of problems overloaded crawler, thus after 14 days new accounts still were not discovered.
I need to improve crawler to be able to handle this situation, but I don't have time right now. For now I added the badly configured instance to the blacklist.
Is there any way to force the crawler to get the whole list of users for some instances? (Like all uodated CZ instances) I'm not sure how it works on pre-4.0, but now the user directory is limited to 80 records per page and it can't be overridden with the 'limit' argument.
If I understand it correctly, it sets the limit to 500 users per page, but the server has it's internal limit on 80. So if the instance has < 500 users, it only shows the first 80 and with >500 it probably undercounts by a lot if the same limit is everywhere.

RSS. Každý účet na Mastodonu má integrovaný RSS feed - stačí za adresu profilu dát ".rss".
To znamená, že ani nemusíte mít účet na Mastodonu, a můžete mít veřejné příspěvky nějaké instituce, novin nebo konkrétního člověka jako feed třeba v Thunderbirdu nebo Outlooku.
Pro snadný odběr rychlých a krátkých informací bez nutnosti se učit a instalovat něco nového mi to přijde jako skvělá maličkost.
Neřekl bych za zenitem. Není lepší a univerzálnější způsob jak odebírat zprávy z mnoha zdrojů.
Naopak mě štve, když nějaká služba RSS neimplementuje. Třeba iVysílání. Několikrát jsem jim psal a vždy se dočkal jen odpovědi, že to předali software týmu, ale teď to nemá prioritu. Přitim to tuším jede na drupalu, tak by to snad stačilo jen nakonfigurovat.
So there's a way to get the Steam app to play nice with screen readers.
Go to your desktop and highlight your Steam icon. Open your applications menu, go to properties and add -gamepadui to the end of the string. Make sure there's a space between the quote marker and the dash or it won't work.
You might have to login again, but this throws the app into a beta of the Steam Deck UI which fuck me sideways is very NVDA friendly. There's some bugs here and there, but this is lightyears better than what we had to deal with before.
some things like the controller configuration seem to have switched to this mode by default. And I am so happy because it means I can finally actually use my steam deck properly aaaaa
We're talking about a service that has been an accessibility blackhole for years.
This was meant to be used on the steamdeck and is only a beta feature for windows now. I seriously doubt they even thought about accessibility when they made it.
@devinprater I actually think this mode isn't meant for the deck either. It uses a completely different, very inaccessible UI that isn't based on web views. We shall see but you're right. Not holding out any hope.
@talon @devinprater hang on, how can it be inaccessible? you just said the gamepad mode works well with nvda. Now, I really wonder, does it work as well on linux? if it does, well, me estimates me will have lots of fun with some games.

Don't want to link your fresh install of Windows 11 with a Microsoft account? (VM for test, reinstalled laptop or whatever)
Easy peasy! You have two options:
# First option: Provide locked Microsoft account (minimum hassle, requires internet)
When asked to provide a Microsoft account, use no@thankyou.com and a random password. This account is locked, and Windows will error out, and tell you that.
You can then proceed to use any local only account.
# Second option: No internet trick (can also be used if you actually *don't* have internet)
Make sure there's no ethernet cable in the machine. Install like you'd normally do, right up to the point where it whines about internet connectivity requirement.
Press Shift-F10, and you get a command prompt. Enter this command:
OOBE\BYPASSNRO
Your installation will now restart, but at the network requirement part, theres a "I don't have internet" option. Click on that, and you can create a local only user.
Both tricks works for the latest Windows 11 22H2 too!
