Babiš obvinil vládu, že zfalšovala volby. „Chtějí, abych zešílel z vlády s SPD,“ tvrdí 😂

Oh, yesterday, an interesting milestone set by EU Regulation 2024/886 just passed without being noticed:

> Payment Services Providers that are located in a Member State whose currency is the euro shall offer receiving instant credit transfers in euro by 9 January 2025, and the payment service of sending instant credit transfers in euro by 9 October 2025.

And on top of it:

> Any charges shall not be higher than the charges for other credit transfers.

@rysiek seconded, as a paid account holder and hacker. :)

Fwiw, it’s good to warn folks like this, Tuta (i have a pinned tweet about IDN homoglyph attacks because it’s a pet peeve masto.deoan.org/@neurovagrant/… ) - just keep in mind hackers protecc, not always attacc.

I hope the image is swapped out soon. I expect some level of corporate approval may be delaying action.

A sehnat třetí práci.

Happy birthday to The Crossroads Inn, my little instance here has been going for two years now.
The name was based on a suite of melodies I came up with 12+ years ago, and at one point there were 10+ parts, but parts A and B are the core of it all. The name also works for a cosy place where all my interests come together and get shared, of course. 🍻🍾
This was played on my Gypsy Jazz grande bouche bouzouki-guitar (it's a complex beastie!), and yes, that also includes the percussion part. #Music

@Tutanota Just a FYI, the new super low contrast appearance of the website view for email (and presumably the rest, but I only use it for email) is an accessibility issue and just plain harder to read. I have really good vision and it still is unpleasant for me. Reducing contrast to almost nonexistent levels may look better to some people, but overall just is much worse of a view. Sometimes simplest is best and email doesn't have to look fancy.

At least give us something closer to the classic color scheme to choose. Though ideally the more color options the better. (Or even add a custom theme option?)

this is why there is no such thing as "vibe engineering" and it is farcical to imagine a world where it even could exist. even with all the responsible code review and QA and cross-checking (which is like, literally impossible, given the amount of vigilance fatigue that AI systems provoke, and the metrics we have so far all bear that out), the long-term maintenance cost of a workslop infrastructure is going to be *devastating*

the biggest problem we *already have* in open source right now, which we have oversimplified into the term "supply chain security", is the lack of understanding that putting a dependency in your project's dependency set (package.json, pyproject.toml, requirements.txt, cargo.toml, etc) is not just "downloading some code", it is *establishing an ongoing trust relationship with a set of human beings*. this fact is *way* too obscured in all the tools we use.

Dude, I thought you were being a smartass. A decade ago I would have laughed and moved on . but now:

Dear $diety it's just plausible these days that if I google this .. so I did.

My friend is across the yard in the garage ... she heard the pain wail and thought I'd hurt myself tossing around flooring.

Can we go back and pick a different timeline This one sucks.

Quebec to table its own constitution in the coming days

montrealgazette.com/news/provi…

It's all a dog whistle for racist. First they came for people not speaking french. Now they come for people not following "Quebec culture"... (that one includes being racist)

Starting to wonder if the reason Québec wants to charge 180$ for the COVID-19 vaccine is because there is a shortage.

Prove me wrong, Monsieur Legault.

"Apple removed an app for preserving TikToks, Instagram reels, news reports, and videos documenting abuses by ICE, 404 Media has learned. The app, called Eyes Up, differs from other banned apps such as ICEBlock which were designed to report sightings of ICE officials in real-time to warn local communities. Eyes Up, meanwhile, was more of an aggregation service pooling together information to preserve evidence in case the material is needed in the future in court.

The news shows that Apple and Google’s crackdown on ICE-spotting apps, which started after pressure from the Department of Justice against Apple, is broader in scope than apps that report sightings of ICE officials. It has also impacted at least one app that was more about creating a historical record of ICE’s activity during its mass deportation effort."

btw it’s not just the lead hyprland dev who’s toxic, it’s the whole community. Go check out the official project discord and you’ll see it’s full of pepe frogs and the vibe of 4chan boys posting the most repugnant shit you’d expect them to, all the way back to the very beginning. That discord is functionally a radicalisation funnel. If you’ve been around the internet long enough you know exactly the vibe as soon as you see it.

Here's the draft of an abstract for a colloquium talk I'm giving at Indiana next month. Suggestions for what I should *call* this talk? I was thinking "It's all just interpreters!" or "Interpreters everywhere!", and then @ganshen suggested "Interpreters: the ultimate abstraction" -- am I audacious enough to call it that?

(Feedback welcome on other aspects of it, too!)

Look all of us know the type of person vaxry is, he's a buzz lightyear in a toy store. We've all known racists and ''crypto-fascists'' who think they're very clever when they're actually very fucking dumb and easy to catch out if you've met people like this before. There's a reason that they decided to support hyprland and not other compositors. They knew the situation, it's that birds of a feather flock together. and some people in framework do. They're not creating a big tent by financially supporting racists (we all know what these people are about, we've all spoken to them before it's no secret)
Where is the financial support for musl? niri? smithay? waydroid? pipewire? all the other fkn libraries and programs that make desktop Linux work and are worked on by a few people with little to no funding? Nope, we'll support the crappy wayland compositor developed by a fascist that has animations as its only selling point☝️

Someone left their bike and helmet unattended outside the Information Technology Faculty building at uni and this little noisy miner bird took advantage of it and built a nest in the helmet. To the delight of all the staff who have been eagerly watching it for the last week or so, Mumma bird has now laid some eggs 😍

This is about Framework.

This is not about Framework, but every other OSS project that sees the current shape of the ongoing polycrisis and says "yeah, the fascists have a point, actually."

This is not about OSS, but about tech in general being a part of how fascism works in 2025, from DRM to AI.

This is not about tech in the current moment, but about the failure of the tech industry to grapple with IBM's role in the Holocaust.

This is not about tech. This is about everything.

I don’t think #Framework understands that they _are_ a political brand. They don’t have the best products, and they don’t have the cheapest products. They have products that appeal to _political positions_. By trying to keep “politics” out of their decisions, what they’re saying is that the **literal only selling point** of their machines is no longer valid.

It’s incredibly sad to see, because I was a fan of Framework until I saw this atrocious response.
