The whole thing took about 15 minutes, most of which was installing packages over a slow network connection.

Mein Programm, mit dem ich tröte, steckt noch in der Entwicklung, und erst jetzt ist das Streaming komplett. Jetzt läuft also alles. I was trying to explain The Archers in a video call I was in on Duolingo. It asked me to tell a story from it and I just sighed and said that there were many crazy stories to tell. Makes me find a telenovela in Spanish to listen to. There are more on tv but don't know if there are any radio versions.

What is with these websites with seemingly random soft hyphens placed everywhere?
Here's an example. It makes reading with a screen reader very difficult. When researching a famous historical figure, access to their work and materials usually proves to be one of the biggest obstacles. But things are much more difficult for those writing about the life of Marie Curie, the scientist who, along her with husband Pierre, discovered polonium and radium and birthed the idea of particle physics. Her notebooks, her clothing, her furniture (not to mention her lab), pretty much everything surviving from her Parisian suburban house, is radioactive, and will be for 1,500 years or more.

I imagine it's to tell the page renderer where to put word breaks for hyphenation so things wrap properly, but if it breaks accessibility they ought to include an option to turn it off.
@bnlandor @hosford42 @KaraLG84 @Akki iOS voiceover ignores them completely. Not everything does. NVDA, for example, which I am using now, treats them the same as a regular hyphen. This can be changed by a simple dictionary change, but, I guess, if you needed those in code for some reason, you wouldn't know they were there if that were the default. That being said, I think it should be.

Canceled my Spotify subscription this year and started using @AntennaPod, and my god what an update to my QoL.
No algorithms shoving perceived interests down my throat, no analytics tracking my every move, and no ads other than any the shows themselves decided to embed in an episode.

I do definitely have to try this, what have you connected it with, like which messenger or integration to control? And does it actually take control over your computer, e.g. do keyboard input, read your screen etc?
@jonathan859 So far just running it from the web, and ya it will control whatever you tell it to, it does have propmt guardrails but i'm sure you could get around them.
How exactly do you run it from the web? Do you just prompt it from the same machine it controls and then let it do its thing while waiting or have a VM for it or something? How exactly is the setup? Sorry I should probably just look it up but the docs were kinda overwhelming, you have multiple components don't you? Like the agent that runs on your machine but also the Gateway you have to setup somewhere.
@jonathan859 It is a bit, yes you run it on WSL WIndows or Mac, Linux, etc. it has a setup wizard, and will give you a url to use to login at the end of it. You will want an API or an auth method ready to go. Cool thing is once it's set up you can ask in chat for it to update settings, or look through the massive list.
Reading the "European agentic AI landscape" report and it doesn't start well. And note, I'm not per se opposed to AI. But this sort of unjustified affirmation of the consequent bothers me:

How has it been that long? How has the iPad not made PCs irrelevant yet? How long until Apple just admits that iPad OS is a failed experiment with 7 too many window management options that make using the iPad more frictionful than a real computer at almost every single use case.
I still use mine almost every day but if my current 2018 iPad Pro stopped working for some reason I’m not sure I’d replace it. It just doesn’t quite know what it’s for. Still.
I tell ya, you could give Windows the newest and even better hardware in tons, and it would still be sluggish, laggy, unresponsive, straight up ignore input or take a minute to process, especially when booting up. This is a fucking top tier Lenovo laptop, I don't care how much bloatware there is on there, you have the resources, go and use them man, no reason to have my screenreader lag, only process one out of 3 keys and force me to reboot before even having done anything.

I tried using Claude Code on the desktop app today. Not to get technical, but Claude's where it's at if you're working on a large project like I am. It helps me follow a plan through beginning to end in an ordered way. Chatgpt is useful for other things, but this thing's generally accessible, is a great code pair, and it's willing to teach me as we go so I can do some of the coding. Heaven't started coding a lot yet, but I have a plan file outlined, and I'll start a refactor tomorrow.

OK, what are these big, awful, horrible problems which are supposed to befall me if I upgrade to the newest version of iOS as a voiceover user? Got a notification from Dice World and so of course immediately updated on my primary device because I’m that kind of stupid. So far, seems to be yet another massive wave of nothing. Thoughts welcome.
Honestly? Aside from a pretty nasty bug in the first version of iOS where voiceover would sometimes not come back after a reboot, and get the phone into a really bizarre state, its fine. The only really annoying bug is the way that percentages are reported as apps download or update. As if variable template code is being past straight through to vo.
@arfy Much ado about nothing, at least from where I'm standing. I upgraded to 26 the day it came out, had 0 problems. People made it out to be like iOS 13, the most buggy crap imaginable. It really wasn't.
@FreakyFwoof @arfy I noticed a massive impact to battery life, surely from Liquid Glass, but you can tone that down in 26.2, so right now’s not a bad time to update.
Hi, I have a problem with FastSM: I have two accounts on different Mastodon-Instances, and after the last Update I can't connect to more than one instance. I deinstalled and installed FastSM, even deleted all data, but after reinstalling it, I can only add one instance. Trying with the second one it doesn't open the browser for authentification. Is there something I can do?
In the data folder there is a folder account 0 and then account 1, but the .json file is just a very short one. I deleted account 1 folder and tried again, without deleting it FastSM won't even let me click on add account.
