I think I'm prone to over-thinking/over-analyzing potential life choices sometimes.
Maybe I could do A, and then X can happen, or I could instead do B, and then Y can happen, but it is hard to know exactly how the future will play out, and, ultimately, either choice would be okay.
It isn't good to act without thinking, but going to the other extreme can also be detrimental.

@Melissa BearTrix ah, right, well i dunno, but maybe not. if not, that would turn out to be a real bummer, especially if the other two admins are willing & able to do it. it would be an important consideration for me in my endless agonising about which instance to use as my most comfy "daily" one.

@DavidGoldfield The BT Speak is the only notetaker I've used that I didn't become disappointed with because of its lack of capability or restrictions with what I could do with it or bugs, and the only one that can do a lot of tasks I would normally do on my laptop and not my phone. The BrailleNote Evolve might end up being another one but for now the BT Speak definitely seems like the best notetaker. I don't think the BT Speak could replace a laptop entirely for me, but it definitely partially replaces one.

For FOSDEM first-timers, it's good to wear the shoes that work best for a lot of standing and walking and can handle rain and some puddles (depending on the weather). These might not be the best looking shoes you have (or they might be) it just needs to be something that once you put on you won't have to think about until you take them off, which will probably be hours and hours later. I am bringing two pairs with very different weights and support styles to switch between.

Darn, that's a lot of icons still. Despite me thinking I'd hate mac, I now only have the default apps on my dock, which kinda serves like the desktop, but mostly for stuff that's opened. Thought I'd go back to my windows habits of like, way too many icons, but nope, I guess I just stuck with the whole arrangement. Just removed a few unnecessary apps I didn't need and that was it, then kept a few I can actually open via the dock and stuck with it, so now it's that thing I am just used to. Also, nothing beats a windows refresh, to be fair. Except a super fresh windows install, to cleanup the registry only to fill it up back again. :D

So. EV is on the horizon. Looking at EV chargers... Immediately, it is surprising to me how many CURSED things the manufacturers suggest doing.

Take this - Running EV Ultra cable (3 x 6mm + a 4 twisted pair data cable inside one armoured jacket)? Use a pair for your CT connection and two pairs for Fast Ethernet!

STEP 2 (At the Hypervolt) Connect the CT clamp supplied to the green CT plug (4), you can use a/the Cat5 (brown or blue pair) cable to extend the connection but always end up with the white wire in the left of the plug and the black wire in the right (as per colour coding). Use the left plug socket only, as this is for the primary CT. If you need hardwired internet you can use the remaining Orange and Green pairs terminated in an RJ45 plug following the T-568B wiring standard. This can be inserted into the RJ45 data cable port inside the device (5).

Also interesting to discuss the safety concerns of having exposed, fragile, solid copper data wires inside that enclosure, right next to those chonkin EV charger contacts at 230VAC... That Ethernet cable probably heads off into a comms rack where people are going to be handling the ends of cables, terminating, crimping, etc... without imagining that the other end is <2cm away from live contacts with zero isolation.

The app consumes 26% of my battery usage, although I set all syncs to 1440 minutes.
I allowed it background activities in my phones settings.
I do not make/change contact information or calendar entries a lot - and if I do, I do on my phone (triggering ad-hoc syncs); a sync check should offer "nothing to sync".
Does anyone know why that is and what I could do to minimize battery usage?

Meshtastic has some serious design problems though, the entire network stops working once you get to about 25-30% usage of the airtime and that happens quickly because their implementation is too chatty.

Meshcore is better, but has similar problems. There are capacity issues in the Seattle area right now and they're discussing strategies to resolve it.

This technology is neat but it's pretty useless if only a couple hundred people can use it "sometimes" in a major metro area.

It's basically like everyone is sharing an Ethernet hub. We're all in the same collision domain.

the only way to fix this is with new hardware where the radios can operate on multiple frequencies simultaneously. It just doesn't exist yet so nobody's built it to work that way.

and then there's the problem of tropospheric ducting that increases the range massively for a period of time and that causes you to get a ton of new collisions from far far away

I take dance classes a few times a week. I always wear a KF94 mask. I know it isn’t perfect, but those are the ones that fit my face best and, at least from my experience so far, they seem to sufficiently protect me against germs from people who are pre- or a-symptomatic. However: I have the rule that if somebody tells me that they are sick, I leave. Today was such a day. I arrived, talked to someone, and a few minutes into the conversation they volunteered that they are sick, so I got dressed and left again.

I know there’s worse things in the world, but I’m still annoyed. Especially because of the attitude that I get when I explain this. People tell me that I don’t have to apologise for my behaviour. I mean… I wasn’t planning to. So I just say nothing and leave, but it feels really shitty.

I know that people also censor any photos and videos taken at events. As in: if I’m in it, they don’t upload them, because I don’t look “gezellig” enough. I don’t mind that pics and vids of me aren’t shared publicly, but the reason pisses me off.

Problem gelöst! Mit Crome klappt es! Danke für Hilfe! An meine blinden Follower: Ich habe bislang Hörbücher im Epub-Format von buecher.de gekauft, konnte sie auch immer herunterladen. Jetzt sind die irgendwie verschmolzen, und ich kann nur noch online im Tolino Webreader lesen. Sie machen es also unmöglich, gekaufte Bücher herunterzuladen. Das ist derselbe Unsinn wie bei Streamingdiensten. Hat jemand eine Alternative, wo es noch geht? ebook.de hat dasselbe Problem. Bin etwas entsetzt!

i've seen a couple of screenshots of terrible people being baffled that people are putting themselves in danger for their neighbors, random strangers, anon immigrants. it's like they can't believe empathy is real and not something others are faking just to score woke points. what a sad way to be, but also how wrong. we will win.
