I'm going to start listing some good things that have happened in society, and I know a lot of you are going to want to say, Well, that's all over now, it will all be taken away, but remember nothing lasts forever, even the bad stuff. So, instead of giving into despair and hopelessness, think for a second, and instead of tearing down hope, add to the list.
The idea that we would have open legal gay marriage in my lifetime wasn't something I believed would happen, but here we are.
I can buy legal recreational Marijuana in my state.
The show Drag Race not only exists, but it has for a long time, and it's very popular.
AIDS is no longer a death sentence.
And to add to that, you can take a drug that will just stop you from getting it.
There is a vaccine for Malaria.
I can just go buy an electric car.
When I was a kid, parents hitting kids was the rule, not an exception.
In my teens and 20's, I never met a transitioned or transitioning Trans person, now I know lots of them.
Abortion pills exist.
There are tenant union.
There is a vaccine against cervical cancer.
Women make up more than half of the college educated work force.
Millions of people showed up to protest police brutality in 2020, I know that's not enough, but if you compare that to the past, or even Rodney King, it's a big fucking deal.
Things are rough, and we are scared, but we haven't just been treading water, and we won't just sit in misery. It's never going to be perfect, but we can be better.

So, we’re going to spend billions of dollars deporting people whose labor we exploit to hold down food costs while also surrendering all the taxes they pay without receiving benefits.
Yep, sounds like the genius who managed to bankrupt casinos.

It is well known that websites must be accessible, but what about mobile apps? Mobile apps must also follow WCAG 2.2 (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) standards with a few exceptions that apply to native software.
Do you have a mobile or desktop app that needs to be tested? If so, then why not schedule a consultation with @tayarndt Taylor has both the knowledge of accessibility auditing, and of developing accessible mobile apps. (1/2)
Contact us if you are interested in making your native desktop or mobile app accessible today.
Yikes, the FOMO is certainly not worth the accessibility nightmare this Bluesky website is.
It's a perfect example of usable, but not accessible.
It's a bunch of labeled elements with no structure whatsoever so you're tabbing through endless links, buttons, and links, and buttons, and links, and buttons, to get somewhere. Forget reading a thread with replies, that will take you forever because there is no structure, at all, to aid in navigation. No landmarks, no heading structure, no headings at all, just links and buttons, links and buttons, and the search is on some different page so I can't even get back to the top quickly. Blind people can have Bluesky because I don't have FOMO.
With respect to #ActivityPub:
Simply, having now seen more into the guts of the process and how it is managed both historically and today, and understanding how the w3c works, I have no faith in their ability to define a clear consensus way forward out of the current set of problems.
Not "no faith in <timeline>" but no faith in the ability to define a clear way forward here.
This doesn't mean that someone outside of w3c couldn't define a better way forward, even one using AP, but w3c won't.
One way forward:
Someone defines a way forward within the FEP process. Not as in a static document, but builds a working group "chartered" by a FEP ( @smallcircles would appreciate this, I think).
But ultimately we're looking at needing a "AP2" and that is a fundamentally broken prospect looking at the w3c processes today. Even if they could produce such I have no faith that the problems are understood or that the right people would be in the room.

How bad is exFAT support on Linux? Is it still severely impeded by the Microsoft patent trolling?
I have lost track.
(to decide whether I stick to SDHC or move up)
@garrett the failure was as follow:
- format the card in camera.
- start shooting
- "Write error" and that message only stays on for a couple of seconds.
(Fuji X-T3)
Can reproduce quite well. I had another card in slot 2, no problem. And yes I swapped slots too, still the same card causing trouble.
It's a card I have been using for a while and filled up many times.
@hub That was back when Republicans were also complaining about "Conservative voices being silenced" on Meta platforms because they had some fact-checking and were reach-limiting egregious misinformation.
Zuck has since kissed the ring: he said he regrets all the moderation they did on misinformation pointed out by the White house, and called Trump's photo "The most badass thing I've ever seen."

MapComplete used to do translations via hosted.weblate.org - we were using the "free tier for Libre/FLOSS-projects" which allowed to have at most 160K strings.
However, because we have a lot of strings multiplied by a lot of languages, we are approaching 180K strings (!). This is a bit over the limit.
As such, @pietervdvn setup translate.mapcomplete.org which will become our main translation hub. It should look familiar, as it too is weblate. You'll have to create a new account though.
