I wanted to learn the names of the neighbourhoods in #Ghent, so I made me a #puzzle. I added the neighbourhoods in #OpenStreetMap , then made a custom theme in #MapComplete and use the 'export as PNG'-functuon. The background is a modified stylesheet for @protomaps

Ooh, nice! You can get some inspiration from my (@pietervdvn) introductory talk at State of the map, a few years ago: https://pietervdvn.duckdns.org/sharing/CVVYIALV3

One of the most important slides IMHO is the 'Pareto frontier' which graphs 'easy of use' vs 'number of features'.

Another important thing is the difference between @MapComplete and @streetcomplete : the latter is meant only for adding data, whereas #MapComplete is meant for both consuming and contributing data.

Du brauchst keine App. Auf der Webseite findest sogar mehr Informationen. Siehe Screenshots.

New in #MapComplete :

- @protomaps are now available as background layer
- All other #vector background layers were apparently broken as well. Not anymore! Carto, Alidade, MapTiler carto, Americana, ... all work again
- A new #map about memorials is now available: https://mapcomplete.org/memorials.html

(To change the background layer, press the 'layers' icon on the bottom left)

And #MapComplete has something similar with https://mapcomplete.org/cyclofix

And we have plenty of other thematic maps

The next MapComplete community call is scheduled for friday the 29th of March, at 14:00 Brussels time.

This is a good moment to pass by, ask questions or get in touch about the last developments about #MapComplete
This happens in our #Matrix chatroom at https://app.element.io/#/room/#MapComplete:matrix.org ; more information here https://osmcal.org/event/2711/

#OpenStreetMap community, what OSM based tools have @mangroveReviews reviews integrated?

While @MapComplete has that, I wanted to try and review a shoe repair place, but #MapComplete requires the entity to be in one of their themes - and there seems to be no "repair/zerowaste/sustainability" theme.

As requested on my old diary entry (https://www.openstreetmap.org/user/Pieter%20Vander%20Vennet/diary/400854), I did rerun the statistics on the number of #reviews that were made with #MapComplete and which are hosted by @mangroveReviews
I'm happy to say that 311 reviews have been made up till now! This is nearly one third of all reviews on @mangroveReviews

The #OpenStreetMap booth at #37c3 has a big printer. A good test for the #MapComplete PDF-export function! In this case, it shows #surveillance cameras in #hamburg . Want your own map? Come over to the Bits-and-Baume area

Are you at #37c3 and are you using #accessibility technologies such as #screenreader , #braille displays or similar? We are in the process of making #MapComplete more accessible and want to user test this. Please get in touch!

Hey devs around here: how do you test accessibility?

I've been testing #mapcomplete with the #Orca #screenreader today, and fixing some issues but I feel quite unsure about it, so I'p interested in your approaches.

Or if someone who's using a screenreader could help me test (in #ghent or at #CCC), that would be appreciated
