Can we please stop with #XMPP's supposed "very" fragmentation? That's the kind of cheap shots that annoy me. Just like summoning the almighty gtalk that doomed us all.
First, is it that bad? (myeah? "It depends")
And second, you're bound to hit some level of fragmentation as long as your policy is to allow various independent implementations on the network. IMO the *only* reason you're not fragmented *yet* is because you provide a single implementation across platforms.
#XMPP also has some of these, the first example that comes to mind being #Snikket (snikket.org).

They don't even see it in terms of "Freedoms that women have that men don't."
If you venture into the dark "Men's Rights," and "Manosphere Podcast" corners of the internet *shudders*, you'll hear men complaining about how unfair they think society is to men, and them thinking that "feminism" somehow created this unfairness. 🙂🙃
I wish that they would read some feminist books.
Because, paradoxically, authors like bell hooks agree also see the systemic unfairness that the manosphere bros complain about. That system of unfair treatment and expectations, that starts hurting men from when they are young boys, is called patriarchy.
And there is a way out.
Everyone is busy. No one has time to read. But this audiobook is only ~5 hrs. 2.5 if you listen at 2x speed!

With the US experiencing the time change two weeks ahead of the rest of the world, it can be hard to tell what time it will be in another time zone. I got tired of counting on my fingers, so I wrote a little web app called Time Shifter Clock.
Set the two time zones by choosing a major city, and then slide the scroll bar to the day and time in the next 7 days. You can copy the time and send it to the other person. Try it!
Very nice. So, I'm using this with NVDA 2024.4.2, Microsoft Edge, Windows 11 24 H2. The one thing that tripped me up was the prompt that says Type 3 characters and look for dropdown is announced by my screen reader but it's not seen as a standard edit control. However, if I press enter on that prompt, it then identifies that I'm in an edit control. Oddly, I don't have this problem using the March build of JAWS 2025. Nice little app. Thank you for writing it and for sharing it.
@DavidGoldfield Thanks, David - I wrote this quite awhile ago and I remember that the library for the dropdown did have something non-standard regarding accessibility about it. I wrote to the open source developer about it but I don’t think they changed it. Thanks for testing on two different screen readers. Appreciate the extra effort.
So, I was browsing the NVDA add-ons store the other day, and I found this add-on called Object Location Tones. I installed it, and, as it turns out, this is the same add-on I teased Charles for installing several years ago. Out of pure coincidence, I downloaded it.
