"Boeing hid the problem by pushing the pieces together with force to make it appear like that the gap didn't exist," Salehpour told reporters at Tuesday's press briefing.

Salehpour says he repeatedly raised these concerns with management, but instead of addressing them, they transferred him to work on a different plane, the 777, where he alleges he saw similar problems.

"I literally saw people jumping on the pieces of the airplane to get them to align," he said. "That's not how you build a plane."

what the fuck what the fuck WHAT THE FUCK.

Dear Mozilla, please stop calling Firefox an indie browser. You’re just a military contract away from being indistinguishable from so-called “big tech” now.

* Another Android 15 feature I first reported on is app archiving, which went live in DP2 but Google is now choosing to highlight in Beta 1. Android 15 includes OS level support for app archiving and unarchiving, making it easier for third-party app stores to support it (Google Play already does since last year). App store developers should check out the new PackageInstaller APIs while launcher developers should check out the new LauncherApps APIs to learn how to handle archived apps.

Also die Werbe-Auslieferungs-Schiene. Liefert also auch Pferdchen… oder Asteroiden?

About my recent boost from @hasanhaja, I think the whole conversation with @slightlyoff is a worthwhile listen for web developers. youtube.com/watch?v=ChfjZV-aA_…

I've been having too much fun clipping things on YouTube to share with my colleagues. Here's a clip with @slightlyoff on questions you should ask yourself when considering React:

So I'm just a few days into running my #Matrix server, and I have to say that doing any kind of public server that requires moderation seems like a very half-baked proposition right now.

Using any kind of bot for moderation—the only real option because bans do not propagate to all rooms in a "space,"—requires an encryption hall pass proxy that hasn't seen a commit in almost a year, despite several bugs. That's to say nothing of the awful state of documentation.

I'm soldiering on, but this is some classic open source nonsense. "Leave the easy proprietary platforms and just host your own thing! Here's no help at all, also this and that don't work. RTFM! Except the TFM isn't finished."

We're glad you're giving it a try!

Yes, the state of trust & safety for homeserver admins is lacking. This is something the Foundation is prioritizing this year, both by investing in FOSS tooling, proposing supportive spec change, and convening stakeholders who work on this from across the ecosystem.

We'll be sharing more about this specifically on our blog in the next few weeks.

Please continue to be vocal about your experience, it helps us target our efforts!

Neither Vision Pro nor Humane's Ai Pin are 'the future’, but they’re both showcasing aspects that will /become/ the future. A pair of glasses, running an OS like visionOS, with advanced multimodal AI smarts. That's the next product that can truly change the world, something anybody and everybody can wear all day every day, and give the smartphone a run for its money; what we have now are science projects — really cool science projects — but science projects nonetheless

I am working a talk for DORS/CLUC in Zagreb about #OSM.

My topic is how and why to start contributing to #OpenStreetMap as a total beginner. I'll be showcasing tools such as @streetcomplete , @everydoor, @MapComplete.

I'll be also talking about #gamification, #community, helping projects like #hotOSM and #OpenHistoryMap.

Do you have any tricks or ideas you would like me to include into the talk. How would you encourage a total stranger to start contributing?

And even more important: MapComplete is a collection of different, thematic map. Each map is aimed towards their own community (e.g. cyclists have mapcomplete.org/cyclofix, parents have the mapcomplete.org/playground map, sport people have a mapcomplete.org/sport_pitches map, outdoor lovers have mapcomplete.org/nature, emergency services loved mapcomplete.org/aed)

As such, it unbundles OSM into easier-to-use chunks and sidesteps some complexity
