If you look at survey results on important social issues without looking at race, you come to incorrect conclusions like, "There is a growing divide between the views of men and women on social issues! Oh no!"
But if you slice the survey participants into race and gender, you see that Black men's answers align more closely to women's answers than any other cohort of men, and in many cases, more closely to women overall than white women. 🙂🙃
The white US notion of masculinity is toxic, petty, violent, fearful, hurtful, and hateful. It's basically a grown man with the same emotions and selfishness as a 3 year old boy throwing a tantrum.
I'm OK if white people overall want to define that as masculinity for themselves, but don't put that on us. That's not how Black men define masculinity.

The reason this view is so discordant is that so many people's view of Black men is based on gangsta rap - base, aggressive, violent.

How they show a mug shot if one is available by default. White guy criminals get yearbook photos. words like thug get used a lot. White guys get discussions of their lost future, black guys get only discussions of the crime.
Someone benefits if we're all afraid of black men. It's bullshit. And a lot so called liberals buy into it too.

@KaraLG84 So I recently discovered that some of the Nord pianos, including one I adore and use a lot, are based on Sampletekk pianos. As much as I love my Nord, having software versions of the pianos I use most often was just too good an opportunity to pass up, especially because they had a 90% off sale a little while ago. They're not accessible out of the box unfortunately, but I was able to sort that with about 20 Aira minutes.
@KaraLG84 Sampletekk Black Grand is also a gorgeous Steinway and I think Nord have one based on that too, although surprisingly I never loaded that one onto my Nord. The sale was ridiculous though. I ended up with TVBO, Black Grand and a few others for under USD$30, plus the Aira minutes and my own time it took me to get them loaded into Kontakt and exposing automatable parameters of course.
@KaraLG84 I adore my Nord Stage 2, but Nord gear is just so expensive, now more than ever. It was expensive back when I bought it in 2014. Now, a new Nord Stage is almost twice the price it was back then, at least in Australia. I'm not sure I could justify it now if my Nord died, especially because I don't ever really play live and DAW plugins are easier to work with for home studio production.
@jcsteh @KaraLG84 I'll sound ridiculous to some, but even if I had the space, I wouldn't want tons of keyboards. I'd want a few great controllers connected to whatever software made people happy. Upgrading the innerds of keyboards and some don't even offer upgrades at all, that has zero interest to me. Being able to upgrade the sounds of things via software though, yeah. I'm here for that. I've never wanted to own a Nord personally.
@KaraLG84 I actually agree with you for the most part. I only own two keyboards, my Nord Stage 88 and KK 61, and I might not have bought the Nord if KK had been accessible first. On the few times I have played live, though, there's something nice about being able to just fire up a keyboard without needing to faf around with a laptop or whatever. And if that were what I wanted, I'd choose the Nord, partly because the Nord piano and sound libraries really are quite extensive, albeit nowhere near as wild as software instruments. Also, building synths on the Nord is quite nice if you like that kind of thing.
@jcsteh @KaraLG84 I do a fair bit of gigging and I play only a Nord Stage 3 compact live. I love having tons of hands-on control and while the sounds are getting a bit dated compared what you can get in software these days they're just fine for live. Also, and maybe it's with my day job being in software, I do not want to deal with a laptop on stage. I know it can be done and that it seems to work for most people but I'm not comfortable with that idea.
@KaraLG84 That said, I don't know how I'm going to cope without the Nord pitch stick if my Nord ever dies. I personally just can't manage the kind of smooth pitch bends, vibrato, etc. I can get on the Nord with any other pitch wheel. To the point where I often play KK with one hand and use the Nord pitch stick with the other to control the KK instrument. :)
@KaraLG84 @KyleBorah The one I use most often is Sampletekk TVBO, on which the Nord Studio Grand 1 and 2 are based. There's also Sampletekk Black Grand, on which Nord Concert Grand is based; Sampletekk WG, on which Nord White Grand is based; and Sampletekk Rain Upright, on which Nord Rain Piano is based.
Man I love these pianos. Could play the Studio Grand for hours and hours. The patches in the library do a great job of showing just how much you can get out of them with good processing. Really wish Ableton had pianos like this, but some how I don't think they're interested in the acoustic singer/songwriter market.
@ZBennoui When I did my walkthrough of the Logic pianos I was really impressed with the quality. I still play Studio Grand for hours when I gig, or on Jamulus etc. The upright like in this clip is also a personal favourite.

This is ... my daughter? This is how she looks like, exactly - a beautiful, young person with long legs, and wonderful hair. And she keeps telling me "OMG, we look so alike, we could be twins..."
... but no, this is not a photo of her, this is a selfie of me reflected in a window. When I saw myself reflected in that window, I had to take a selfie and send it to her and she was absolutely amazed at how similar we look now, really, like twins, everything, the form, hair, posture, arms, legs, ... only her face is slightly different (and way younger, obviously 🥰

Inheritance can be a funny thing. I resemble my dad in many ways. But in some respects, I take much more strongly after the men in my mom’s family, especially the body hair and the shape of the nose. Also, my hair has always been darker than my dad’s, although he and I definitely share the tendency for full hair even at advanced age, whereas the men in my mom’s family are almost all bald. It is wondrous how genes sometimes mix.
@Marco TBH, she resembles my wife more than her mother (my wife isn't her mom), but she looks more or less exactly like me. So the photo above could really be me or her, if I didn't tell you who that person is on the photo and you'd see us next to each other, you couldn't tell who that was.
But, and that's the fun part, whenever she is visiting us and we three, her, my wife and me, go out for a walk, people are 100% sure she is our daughter, because she has nearly nothing from her biological mom, but some really interesting similarities with my wife.
In my own case, I have half-half, i.e. about half of me resembles my father, and half my biological mother (as far as I can remember, and I have one single photo of her).
