Why. I just don't really get it. Why is it like this of all results? I didn't go into today thinking he could possibly win like this. I can't even have the consolation that the majority rejected him this time, because they didn't
in reply to Chris 🌱

I wish I knew. So many people swayed by made up fears they should be able to see through.

Pennsylvania was called by NBC as well. All I will say is margins this time around were not as tight as in 2020, at least where it mattered. And ultimately while calling a winner now is premature before all votes are counted, it also becomes less possible to do the more these margins in states like Wisconsin end up getting called, too. Sorry America, but we may have just failed ourselves, now time to learn from those failures, we're the "pick yourself up by the bootstraps" type country. #USPol
in reply to Tamas G

I'm also not saying miracles don't happen. They can. Presumably there's a chance for this to go to a 269-269 split, depending on Wisconsin, Nevada, and other tighter swing states of what's left, and then the house splits it. I see this as about as slim as looking through the light from above a trapdoor that's 50 feet up, but it's there. I see both sides in this, I get why people are jumping to conclusions but also why there's validity to the path for a victory to be on a brighter history. #USPol

Usa, europa bajona, desahogo

in reply to sara gil casanova

Toda la razón. No hay mucho de lo que alegrarse. Que la Comisión prácticamente anteayer se empezó a subir con exportar los campos de detención de inmigrantes a fuera de la UE para que no molesten.

Apropos of nothing at all, did you know that it is relatively easy for Americans to move to the Netherlands under the DAFT (Dutch American Friendship Treaty)? Check out my immigration lawyer's website:

Buenos días desde la Administración Pública.

Otro día con mucho más calor del normal para la época. Sé que no es una buena señal, pero subjetivamente ayuda a llevar el día.

in reply to mcc

This last issue is because Android Studio— necessary for Android development— is not a Google product. Rather it's "JetBrains"' IDE for "JetBrain's" version of Oracle's programming language. Injected into this like a kind of parasite are two separate programs that make Android work; one of the two, AGP, is developed by Google, and the other, Gradle, seems to be developed by the community. Gradle and AGP are at eternal war with each other. AGP doesn't know how weird their name sounds to me
in reply to mcc

the android toolchain is something alright.

I love (/s) constantly having to ask google to fix nondeterministic output produced by their toolchain (or building workarounds in cases that's possible) to make reproducible builds for android work.

half the time it's bugs deep in some compiler code I have no idea how to even find, the other half is me having to explain to them what their own code is doing so they can apply my proposed fix.

I think I really, truly need to figure out where to go from here. I don't feel safe, and I don't know if there's anywhere I would feel safe.
in reply to Chris 🌱

honestly this. I know I probably will never truly understand how you or others are feeling, but I still look at this and I'm a mess myself even though I personally for my own health have not much to worry about yet.

And I know it's not true in the long term, but yeah....

I wished people weren't like this and sadly I have to say "us people", because white folks are constantly messing this up and making it an issue for everybody else.

It will do you no good to pay close attention to the vote count tonight (or tomorrow).

It *will* do a lot of harm to publicly voice despair and expectation of an Orange Shitbag win.

Read a book. Watch a movie. Go to sleep. Read the news 2 days from now. And in the meantime, keep your negativity to yourself.

People have enough to worry about as it is, without being taken on a pointless roller coaster ride of premature election results coverage and ill-informed speculation.

#USPolitics

How are we so stupid? This hateful? This evil?

stop doomscrolling for a second and look at this cutie. he doesn’t even know what an election is.

BTW if you are a U.S. voter, and you try to vote today, and you are denied because of problems with your registration, be aware you may cast a provisional ballot. They put it in an envelope and count it later.

- HOW DO I DO THIS?

Ask the poll workers.

- WHAT IF THEY WON'T HELP?
- HOW DO I KNOW IF I'M ELIGIBLE?
- HOW DO I FOLLOW UP AFTERWARD?

I made an effort to research this and the only answer I can find is "call the Democrats". The Democratic Party runs a national hotline at 833-336-8683.

Cnn reporting that younger voters don't know how to sign their name...

That's quite a failing of the school system...

wtf.

Pulled the 20D out of the closet. Charged the battery, still works.

A few things. Holy shit the screen is small. And I can't even read it without glasses anymore.

And it was still configured including with the date that was only 10 minutes ahead.

Bought it more than 20 years ago.

#today
so I was talking to my boyfriend and I have a habit of transcribin what I'm saying to help those who cannot hear. I do this in meetings, a lot.
Well I almost typed "I love you" in a server when asking a question. I think a bit of me right now wants to die.
in reply to Sarah A

@ke7zum@mastodon.tffppodcast.comWell at least you are willing to admit in public that you love him...

I want you to know that no matter who you choose to vote for, that I still respect your right to naah j/k, fuck you forever if you vote for him. If you did in 2016, maybe you were tricked and could've earn your redemption. In 2020? Highly unlikely. 2024? You should be shunned forever by all.

I'm going to go to bed and hope I wake up to a better country than the one I think I'm in.
in reply to Chris 🌱

I want to be optimistic about this, but I think my optimism died in 2016 and hasn't come back.
in reply to Chris 🌱

Same. It shows the power of the right-wing media bubble. Too many people live in a different reality.

Considering getting either an #xbox or #ps5 for the family as a #gaming platform. Any opinions as to which console has the best #accessibility setup for #blind game players?

I'm not sure if I want to watch, or if I want to keep it out of my mind until tomorrow. I'm incredibly anxious either way

If you're in Adelaide today, come over to U-City for See Differently Tech Fest! James and Quentin (both camera shy) are here showing off NVDA as well as exhibits from See Differently (formally Royal Society for the blind) and many other organizations.

I Installed Gentoo So You Don’t Havtoo lxer.com/module/newswire/ext_l…

I've had Ditto for a few weeks. It's an alternative to the Windows clipboard that adds a whole lot of cool extras. Today, I finally had occasion to use the search. I simply started typing the snippet I wanted, hit tab, and pressed enter. Windows has clipboard history, but it's 25 items at most and has no search, groups, or other nifty features.

@EdenLinnea Hi, I am unsure what distribution you are refering too. I don't think I have access to the post you are asking about.

@khronos Huh. Weird. Sorry. Maybe it mentioned someone else in the post. For all I know voiceover messed up. Sorry.

I printed on Instax a medium format film picture.

The funny thing is that the original is 60x60mm and the print is 62x62mm.

It really bugs me when the AI chat bots in Picture Smart choose to summarize the text in an image. This has happened twice today and I had to then follow up with asking it to just show me the text in the image, rather than summarizing it. Once I did this, it complied. It reminds me of those times when I'm in a doctor's office and the receptionist hands me a form to sign. I ask him or her what is on the form and instead of reading it, they'll say something like, "Oh, that's just you giving us permission to bill your insurance." It was only recently when I realized that the forms had more material than what I was being told and so now I either insist that someone reads the entire form to me or I just use AIRA to do it. Not quite the same situation, I know, but it annoys me when an AI bot summarizes text that it sees, rather than just showing me the text. It's bad enough that I have to force other humans to not do this. Now I have to do the same thing with a chat bot.
in reply to David Goldfield

Well lets hope that at least the bot will let you customize it to read entirely by default.
in reply to Cleverson

@clv0 I agree. The default setting should either be to have the bot translate and read the text or at least to have that along with a summary.
in reply to David Goldfield

So I own a language interpretation agency. Mainly, it’s from one language to another, but someone can also be requested if the patient isn’t able to read the printed word. I in the past have requested that someone be available to read me and help me fill out forms etc. it’s the patient’s right to request assistance and the hospital’s obligation to provide it.

in reply to Bicycling Monterey

As a Christian, I agree with the critical importance of how we treat the least of these. I think it goes without saying that if unborn children in the womb are not the least of these, then I don't know what is.
