do you have a loose ETA on the iOS version? Hopefully the schedule slid to the left?
in reply to Edward Kennedy

@ekennedy80 Having Thunderbird for Android out definitely gets us closer! This is a very loose estimate, but I imagine we'll start actively planning, which will mean hiring an iOS engineer, next year, hopefully towards the beginning.

This typist is an iOS user, so I know the wait is hard, too!

@norshgaath

When you install it you'll be surprised. I won't tell you exactly why but migrating was trivial (assuming you have K9 installed). Literally a few clicks.

Congrats @thunderbird on a nice simple migration process. 👏 👏 👏 👏

in reply to Bernard Tyers

@bernat @norshgaath Thank you! And seriously, thanks to everyone who helped us test the migration process and make sure it was smooth for the big day!

That is good news, happy to find it in the playstore in Germany, even though the beta version appears first depending on the search

Congrats, of course, but I can’t help but wonder if supporting additional platforms is the right priority when there are still numerous issues with the desktop release. For example, the long-promised message threading and the very broken calendar still need attention!

Amazing! Almost seamless transition from k-9 by exporting/importing k-9's settings/account files! Well done!

it's really nostalgic to part with the robo-dog icon on home screen, but there's no better family for K-9 to get taken in by, hands down.
The bark notification sound will stay though. 😅😋
Big kudos to #k9mail and hello world, thunderbird! #FOSS 4 life ❤️
in reply to Thunderbird: Free Your Inbox

the migration from K-9 was seamless and easy, just 2 taps. Though the App is now a bit too Android-ish, I think it kind of smoother than K-9?
I still need to make used to with the new panel.

I would like to use the function "export to mobile" in the Thunderbird Desktop (Flathub), how can I upgrade from 128.3 to 138.4 which is the precondition to have that function?

Now Apple PLEASEEEEEEE 🍏

By the way, great job guys keep going 💪

I'm planning to install this in place of K-9, but it doesn't appear to be available on APKPure as yet. I'll try my other independent app stores later this morning.

Congratulations on the successful release of Thunderbird for Android! It's an exciting milestone for the team. I wanted to inquire politely about when we might expect support for the Exchange Web Services protocol, as discussed in the community forum. Thank you!

@v613 Early next year, we'll work on creating and publishing our roadmap for 2025, and we'll be looking at things like Connect to help us decide where we'll be going. Thank you for asking!

When I try to log in to Yahoo Mail it says: Oops, something was wrong. Developers: please specify a valid request and submit again.

Any hint on what should I try?

@lfromanini Does this K-9 Mail support post help? forum.k9mail.app/t/how-do-i-ad…
in reply to Thunderbird: Free Your Inbox

thank you for the reply. I could resolve the problem already. Once I configured the account on Thunderbird, either manually or loading it from K-9, the browser opens for authentication. I was using Firefox as default browser, with "strict ennhanced tracking protection". I don't know if that's the root cause, but I switched my default browser to chrome only for authenticating and it worked. After my account was correctly loaded in Thunderbird, I switched back to Firefox.

Congratulations!

I look forward to trying it.

Do you have any idea of timings for F-droid releases?

in reply to Neil Brown

@neil It should release on F-Droid within a few days! We'll be sure to post here on Mastodon to give everyone a heads up when it's available there!
in reply to Neil Brown

Neil you could always use obtanium to get the release from here if you're desperate.

in reply to Justine Smithies

@justine
Oh, yes, I could get it from there, or from Aurora's interface to Google Play.

But F-Droid is FOSS and convenient and delivers updates, and I'll probably hold off until it is available there!

in reply to Beo

@beo @esplovago @neil @justine They're identical (Thunderbird for Android was developed from K-9 Mail), just different branding.
in reply to Thunderbird: Free Your Inbox

Great news! Already installed!
By the way I was wondering if it is intended to still have a "About K-9" section? I was thinking that it was during the beta phase, but now maybe not. Or maybe it is due to the translation?

Awesome! Great work everybody!

I was a bit puzzled by the title of the article. It says "Thunderbird for Android 8.0", but in the system requirements it says "Android 5 and above"... So is 8.0 the version of Thunderbird? 😅

in reply to Thunderbird: Free Your Inbox

got it yesterday and it works fine. I was surprised, how smooth I could import the options from the desktop app. Thank you!
in reply to Thunderbird: Free Your Inbox

Thank you all so much for your tireless work making this a reality. I am so thrilled to now have my favorite email client on all of my devices as well as computers! ♥️♥️♥️
in reply to Thunderbird: Free Your Inbox

Is it possible to install the apk now and update it later with releases from f-droid?
in reply to Thunderbird: Free Your Inbox

THANK YOU!!!
We've been waiting for this!
Signed a loyal user since version 1 of thunderbird and firefox, and netscape before that.
in reply to Thunderbird: Free Your Inbox

Great! Now also please come up with a fix / solution soon for issue discussed here:

Look at:

Is it possible to display the account names again in the account overview?
Or have I overlooked a setting?

I was a K-9 Mail user for some time, but somehow didn't know about this upcoming update. It is SOO GOOD. Just donated.

The app is beautiful.

in reply to Thunderbird: Free Your Inbox

Congratulations ! Perhaps you should put the new logo (without beta) in place of the current one ? 😋
in reply to Thunderbird: Free Your Inbox

congrats on the release. But how come the f-droid version of k9 (stable verison) is now "Thunderbird Beta for testers" ? It's not very nice to suddenly be moved onto an unstable release stream.
in reply to Thunderbird: Free Your Inbox

The import via QR Code function works really well and quick for my dozen+ mailboxes.
Great job!
