It is back! theyrule.net
They Rule is an interactive visualization of the interlocking directories of the largest US companies. It shows that 87 of the top 100 US companies in 2021 were connected through shared directors on their boards. It allows visitors to browse through the board-room connections, and create maps they can share with others. Visitors can find links between companies by clicking on the chair menu in the top left and printing out their maps.
The students were to pass the test by connecting their computers with an Ethernet cable to the examination machine running a special OS, presumably a fork of Debian. The test was taken by tunneling into the examination machine through the web browser and handling the exam in an accessible HTML from there.
Sadly, the audio recordings for the listening part do not seem to be available. Pity, as they reference Whatsapp voice messages. Would be fun to check for their authenticity based on the sound quality.
On that note: Do language exams in your countries reference modern communication methods or is it still a telephone? When I took my final in German, "Social media: pros and cons" was just a subject of the mini essay I had to put together as part of the writing assignment.

Switch from wget to curl for downloads. this removes a dependency, and theoretically should not lose any functionality. It is experimental, however, so please watch for bugs.
This week, NV Access founders Mick and Jamie, travelled to Samoa to share the great benefits of NVDA. This article appeared in the Samoa Observer.
From the article (in speaking about NVDA): "Samoa Blind Persons Association President Mata’afa Faatino Utumapu said the software held unlimited opportunities for the blind to study and find employment."

Layoffs:
- don't save money
- don't improve company performance
- don't increase stock pricess
- destroy trust
- have huge impacts on health, well-being, and income of employees
So why do layoffs? It's a network effect: execs lay people off because other companies are doing it

in reply to Tuta • • •I would love it to be faster. It takes really long to open and sync and be ready to actually view an email after clicking on a notification.
It would also be nice to be able to zoom in on mobile. Sometimes emails are formatted to be read in a computer and it's not easy to read without zooming in.

Some form of restful API would be nice to make archival and backup easier. I know it's a big ask for several reasons, but I'm not going anywhere 😊

One feature I think many people miss is built-in GPG/OpenPGP support, something like being able to add public keys to contacts sounds nice to me. I know a little bit about how hard this feature is to implement, but it is worth it.
An alternative would be something like a mail bridge program, so people will be able to use software such as Thunderbird or KMail to encrypt emails locally.

What I'd like is a nice-to-have but practical - option to set default notifications per each calendar. I'm used to be notified 30mins before event, but I have to set it up always and all the time 🙁
