In most email clients (outlook, Thunderbird ETC), you can copy files from your file explorer directly into the message body of your email. Saves trying to go through the browse dialogue and add attachments that way.
@Bri I tried that just yesterday. I copied the file in Explorer, went to the email I was writing, and pasted. Nothing happened. I figured it just wasn't a thing. You mean it should have worked?
@alexhall @Bri That works perfectly in Outlook and GMail Web. Thunderbird you still have to envoke the attach dialog with Ctrl+Shift+A, but can then paste as you otherwise would.

@alexhall @jscholes @jackf723 @Bri Once you copy a file from File Explorer, in Outlook you don't even have to create the message before initiating the paste. From the inbox, instead of pressing ctrl+N, press ctrl+V. This invokes the New Message dialog and takes the file that you had copied and automatically attaches it to the message. Just fill out the relevant fields, to, cc, etc., type the message and send and the file is already attached.

I've made getting to both the web and iOS versions of my Fast Weather app easier. Just visit FastWeather.online to use the web version or use the Try iOS link at the bottom of the page to join the iOS Test Flight and get the program. Table view on the web is a favorite of mine for quickly browsing temperatures in either my set of cities or the prepopulated lists of cities for a state or country. Change the view to table, pick a state and use screen reader table commands to quickly read.

#Meshcore seems to really work as a countrywide network. Today, I chatted with people from Liberec and Krkonoše, which are hundreds of kilometers away, and their messages went through just fine. All of this was possible with cheap, community-built devices.
@stepan Definitely it has integration with MQTT or there is an integration into Home Assistant. The question is if there is coverage. If there is, all you need is a small companion, if there isn't you'll have to install a repeater in some good location to cover the area for yourself and others. Urban areas such as Prague, Brno and Ostrava are well covered. Countryside, you still have to be lucky. You can check the current map of the network here: mapa.meshcore.cz/ You can use the Propagation function to see what coverage you would get from a spot you pick on the map.

trying to find a local radio station threw fastplay isn't working. if I could figure how how to listen to it in say winamp, I could save it as an m3u file and use fastplay to listen to it that way, but searching for it isn't working. if anyone wants to help me figure out how to find them, it is Power 96.5 WQHH.
Wow, I tried to search all three directories for that station, and it's apparently not on any of them. That's ... Highly unusual. Are you sure you have the station name correct?
@Bri I don't know if this is possible, but is there a way to make it notr announce song changes when a station starts playing another song, but it still shows up in the title bar if you want to look at what song is playing? it not, it is ok, but just thought I would ask.

It seems that radio-browser.info which is the site that Tweesecake uses, and likely FastSM as well, does not carry a stream for that station. Not saying it doesn't exist, just saying it doesn't exist on a popular open source radio listings platform, and its probably unlikely that the blindy apps will find it. If you do come across some sort of live stream like something on a web page from them, and want to attempt to extract a source, let me know, and I'll do some source code diving and see if they haven't entirely wrappered it. But probably most likely its not as easy as it once was. But if a stream exists that you want to see if can be turned into a Winamp or FastSM compatible stream, I welcome the challenge.
@adam someone actually found it for me. I don't know how, but it is on some funky streaming thing. not that you would want to listen to it, but here is the URL. I now have it saved in my favorites in fastplay.
@countrymetalhead @adam fastplay is a windows program that @Bri wrote. I don't have a URL where you can read about it, or download it, but it is a really cool very small audio player that is rather nice.
@adam @Bri Nice...I'd love to check it out. I mostly use Winamp, but if this is more streamlined, that'd be cool. Admittedly, for online radio, if I can't tell Alexa to play it, I often don't bother. You and @evilcookies98 are the exceptions to that.
@countrymetalhead @adam @evilcookies98 My app has three options including iHeart Radio and Tunein for searching for radio streams. It has a full featured radio dialog where you can import and export your stations list and search for new stations.
@countrymetalhead @adam @evilcookies98 I really don't wanna toot my own horn here but, fuck it. The app is damn fast. It has a podcatcher dialog that if I say so myself, is faster than any other podcatcher I've ever used.

A SiriusXM app for Mac and iOS recently got shut right the fuck down because of SiriusXM blocking the app, so ... I could maybe get it working and it might work for a bit, but eventually it would just get shut down.

Is it still common for screen reader users to miss incoming messages in a text chat while they're typing? Seems like it would be, since typing interrupts speech.
@ChrisDuffley Ideally, a script should be able to look for incoming messages and should provide a user setting to always speak them, at least as an option.
If the app in question makes it quick and easy to edit, delete, and send followups, I don't consider it much of an issue. E.g. Slack works well in these areas for me.
If performing those actions is laborious because of accessibility or other issues, I worry about it a lot more.
Yes, this has often happened to me, since some apps will make a noise or speak a message when one comes in, and some do not. Also sometimes I am just using Braille and not speech, and then any incoming message notifications are even easier to miss if my fingers are typing and not reading the display.
Definitely. If an app has no setting to allow playing sounds for incoming messages even if the chat is already open, I consider this a major issue. In 90 percent of cases I will go and check what is above my message if I sent it, but the 10% when I forget to do so could be crucial.
Probably. I have Slack and Element on my phone now. I like getting notifications there when I get messages, although it might easily get annoying if I'm in too many chat rooms.
Yes, especially in apps that don't even announce them, assuming that they don't even need to make a sound and fire a system notification if you're already in the window.

Some doop on Reddit says he rips his CDs into flac files. I said the only thing that flacs increase in this regard is file size; not quality. He insists they sound better as flacs.
So, I ripped two CDs on my l33t h8xor Linux PC. 192kbps mp3s, and flacs. I genuinely could not tell the difference on any of my headphones, including the planar magnetic supernerd audiogasm cans. And I mean it: Zero difference.
Have I fallen into confirmation bias, or is there a real difference?
There will be a difference, nowadays it'll be teeny tiny and honestly whether it matters is mostly in the mind-y, but it is still technically valid to say that flac is the higher quality of the two. If you want to hear the difference in isolation, post the two files and I can rustle up a null test easily for ya.

I have an analog mixer. It sounds big and awesome when I listen to the main outputs connected directly to my monitors. But when I run my second set of main outputs into my computer via Ferrofish converters and an RMI ADAT-->USB interface (the Digiface), everything sounds...flat and lame. And I definitely lose significant amounts of bass response.
@BorrisInABox oooh, this does sound like the kind of thing that can happen with phasing. I have no idea how to look into that in this case, but I'll check into it.
