In a move that absolutely no one asked for: I am porting the Windows Vista/7 desktop Gadgets to Wayland with some GTK sorcery.
These widgets are actually zip files with web resources plus some metadata. I got the Machine CPU and RAM stats working, along with some of Microsoft's weird JS API's.

@pavel @archos To je bohužel zákonný požadavek. Kamarád říkal, že aby mohl zaměstnat uklízečku z UA, napsal do požadavků schopnost překládat z Maďarštiny do Švédštiny 😁
Am I misunderstanding something or does this article indicate that adding menu/menuitem roles somehow ensure keyboard operability of dropdown menus? (They don’t.) The use of <ul>/<li> elements is also superfluous as the added roles mean it could be just <div>s. Not a bad practice, but the article seems to indicate using a list is somehow helpful to AT users. (It isn’t.) I’d also recommend the aria-haspopup=menu (although equivalent to true, it’s more specific).
In fact, using the menu roles in the wrong way can have serious repercussions on the screen reader experience, since for historic reasons, menu systems need special handling, especially on Windows, but the Mac has some similar mechanisms where wrongly used menu roles can put VoiceOver in an undesired state where strange things occur. I wrote an article about that in 2018 or so, outlining some of the problems. And of course, the fact that ARIA roles don't change browser behaviour or add keyboard functionality is as true today as it was 20 years ago when ARIA was first conceived. @archos Mám houby rád už od mala, nakoupil jsem nějakou literaturu a prošmejdil dost lesů, tak se dá říct, že ano. Otrava z hub ještě nebyla, tak asi zatím dobrý 😁
@archos Tak ono to samozřejmě není podle knížek, atlas je vodítko a pak musíš chodit do lesa a učit se, nejlépe vždy s někým, kdo fakt ví že to je právě tahle houba. Praxe v lese se nedá nahradit knížkou 😁

When I think about reading, the activity, I think of it as something distinct from listening to an audiobook. I enjoy the physical and mental act of reading. It is recreational for me in a way that listening to an audiobook isn’t.
But I do love and listen to audiobooks, and listening to audiobooks “counts” as reading, whatever that means. what's wrong with hubzilla? it has the most fine grained post propagation strategy, aka circles and stuff like that. Also, there's friendica and such, which is kinda similar, but not really. Since _streams is a fork of hubzilla, should we be worried about that too?

@hazelnoot if you have had to deal with a lot of instances posting, uh, media legally risky in jurisdictions including but not limited to where most hosting providers are located (US, EU): you’ve probably encountered one. Akkoma or Pleroma soft-fork.
@Ezzy @hazelnoot well it’s hosted on hetzner servers. the top post listed pieces of software, not hosting providers.
honestly pleroma is below my threshold for “automatically be very suspicious of this instance” given how it’s still popular for single-user instances. in replies, i singled out the top three but not the top four for a reason.
I'm just going to say it. Whoever designed the new notifications layout and design for Mastodon needs to go back to the drawing board (and UI design school). In some cases, esp if you start off with a tag, it looks and works horribly. (desktop view). Way worse than the old way just a month or two ago.
please fix the date picker color; it is always green it does not matter the theme in use. And please also fix this quite old bug on Android. Thanks. One more thing: pinch to zoom would be great too.

I found a great, brief resource on creating accessible web pages and documents. It only highlights most common accessibility issues, so it's much less overwhelming than the WCAG. I think it's a great resource for people who don't know where to start!
