EDIT: Enough use cases have been shared & this seems like it will no longer be deprecated.

📣 `aria-atomic` is going to be deprecated soon. If you have a usecase for it that you think is important, speak up now.

There was a question posed on the #curl IRC channel whether there's ever going to be a need to raise addressing or offsets from 64-bit to something larger, such as 128-bit.

I argue there is no need to do this. 64-bit can already address a very large amount of data. For example, many operating systems and filesystems have a limit of 2**64 for file sizes. But it is difficult to wrap your head around this; how much data can such a file really hold?

Some estimates (*) say that there's going to be around 181 ZB (zettabytes) of data in the world by the end of 2025.

This is only 9812 files if each file holds 2**64 bytes.

AI and Accessibility: the Good, the Bad, and the Bollocks!
A refreshing talk, where @tink cuts through the clickbait, to bring you the good, the bad, and the bollocks of AI and accessibility. With examples of discriminative AI (text, image recognition) and generative AI (alt text generation, voice reproduction, etc) she explains how AI has and will continue to improve accessibility.

Ha! Great news from #MikroTik #RouterOS changelog. Looks like somebody finally tried to use #DHCPv6 Relay and figured out it was completely useless for DHCP-PD.

7.18
*) dhcpv6-relay - added option to create routes for bindings passing through relay;
7.18.1
*) dhcpv6-relay - clear saved routes on DHCP release;

The ChatGPT app for macOS has been updated with the ability to write code directly into Xcode, which means it competes with Apple's Swift Assist and GitHub Copilot.

France has its own spy satellites and will keep providing Ukraine with intelligence needed for deep strikes into Russia.

Trump can write the US out of everything, but as military experts said the other night, other countries will take over, while the US becomes irrelevant.

Well, this is REALLY stupid and ignorant af: the B-29 was named after the pilot’s mom and is on permanent display at the National Air and Space Museum's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center near Dulles Airport in Chantilly, Virginia. Are they gonna cover up her name on the nose of the bird, too? The stupid fuckers, in their fear of DEI, are actively trying to remove history.

@treefit ... I have, however, enjoyed the "Stateless OpenPGP (SOP)" CLI standard - and even implemented a subset of it (see crates.io/crates/rsop), based on the excellent @rpgp OpenPGP library

There are many SOP implementations, all with the same CLI. Anyone who would like to play with encryption and digital signatures might enjoy a look at SOP.

A few SOPs even implement the new OpenPGP RFC 9580, which introduces modern encryption using AEAD mechanisms, and surely more will follow.

Me encontré esta chulada. Seguro el doc @neurologo lo aprecia.

ha I noticed this because I'd broken my firefox nightly into a state where it was skinning everything but didn't think it was and that was very broken 😅.

One suggestion, if this setting is specifically about forced-colors "Contrast" might be confusing as it doesn't let me request more contrast (prefers-contrast media query)?

Great to see Firefox experimenting here!

in reply to Eitan

In most of the projects I work on, we actually leave the background color as-is specifically to allow for user customization. But it isn't super useful because we often have to change the text color, and then that might not be compatible with whatever background color the user chooses. I am hoping to see more features like contrast-color() land in browsers so we can define text color that will work for any user preference :)
