AG Uthmeier: Stop attacking drag performers and violating our First Amendment rights!
Drag is protected speech. Federal courts already said this law is probably unconstitutional. Uthmeier is only enforcing it because of a legal loophole—not because it's suddenly okay. The law is intentionally vague.MoveOn

Ridiculously fun!

P.S. It would have been nice if even without AI they gave names like current date, current time with seconds and a sequential number… dreaming is not forbidden? right?

The total mess of tagging crossings and a way to move forward
In the ancient days, OSM was much simpler. You had the streets and roads. A crossing was considered a barrier along the way for road users (i.e. cars), so one would place a node with where the crosswalk is located.OpenStreetMap
The data duplication on crossing nodes and crossing ways annoys me a lot. I also stopped tagging the button operation when I realized that all local crossing buttons are for audible signals only. There is also a problem with the audible signal tagging for crossings, where `=yes` is apparently supposed to equal `locate`+`walk` 😖
I support an effort to clarify and simplify.
I'll share the playlist once I have a decent amount.

- Dating platforms certainly use machine learning to create the profile proposals for users. That's called recommender systems.
- They are not interested in giving you the perfect match, because that would mean that you don't need the platform anymore.
- They use priming. This means they categorize the "attractivity" of people. And let's say you are a 6 or 7 (out of 10) in their system, they first present 8 or 9 graded profiles to you, expecting the "8 person" to reject you. But this primes your expectations of "what you can get". And hence when presented with a good matching profile, you probably will judge this as being below your expectations.
Hello @matrix 👋 what's the best place to get help with the federation tester?
I have my .well-known server info setup correctly for my instance at matrix.malenfant.net which should redirect everything to port 443.
The federation tester fails though and completely ignores the .well-known server info and still tests port 8448.

FreeBSD has Wireguard support in the base OS, but it's not well documented how to use it. So here you go. Hopefully an example lands in the FreeBSD Handbook soon.

Wireguard The FreeBSD Way
Wireguard is part of the FreeBSD base OS install these days so you do not need to install additional software to use it. I was using Wireguard the traditional way via the wireguard-tools package so I could use wg-quick like you would on Linux.Makefile.feld

This is horrible. Do not buy AI translated books. Please.
---
The French literary translators association (ATLF) and the collective En Chair et en Os (In the Flesh) have just published a press release (in French) relating how translators working for Harlequin were recently told that the publisher would now be turning to AI: ‘An external contractor, the communications agency Fluent Planet, will put the texts through “automatic translation” software and then recruit freelancers directly to post-edit the machine output in French. The stated aim is to increase profitability by reducing working time.’
A number of French translators have been working for Harlequin for years, often exclusively. This decision places them in an extremely precarious position, without proper notice or compensation.

A všimli jste si toho obrovského okna vzadu?

protip: If you're going to rip off someone's Harry Potter #fanfic, and have a bad AI voice read it, maybe check to make sure it's not an explicit drary slashfic before uploading it to your Harry Potter Playtime Fun channel, and marking the video "for children".
Maybe while you're at it, consider picking a British voice? And proofreading the titles so they have the correct chapter numbers? And not skipping chapter seven completely? It must take extra work to do crime this badly!
Just a few tips for the scammers out there. I know crediting the original author and doing an actual human reading just isn't possible; you've gotta upload a couple hundred videos a week, after all!

The idea of Matrix as a chat service is nice. But the fact that it keeps going out of sync, and I keep losing messages from other people is just plain annoying. This is worse than IRC net split (at least there was a message when it happened).
#Matrix #MatrixChat #ElementX #IRC
My account is on matrix.org, and I'm using ElementX 25.12.0 on Android. The channel is on a different server, and there's a bunch of people bridging to different services (like Telegram). I bet I'm either losing the messages from the bridged people, or the ones from 3rd party servers.

Why is everyone mad at #mozilla I don't understand.
#firefox is about to release one of the best #ai features and I couldn't be more excited: a kill switch.
This is a big deal and marks a change of sentiment. After years of tech scrambling to reinvent itself with user hostile #ai features, Mozilla is offering something different - turn it off.
Because people sense that things could go wrong.
They fear that Mozilla will lose its way, to the detriment of the community's demands.
Because other features that are highly sought after by the community are still waiting to be integrated, if at all.
Encouraging AI is not necessarily environmentally friendly and, above all, it consumes local resources. Many have noticed a significant slowdown on FF. Even though GAFAM is lobbying that ‘no AI = mediocre product’.

There's nothing quite like reading a newspaper article from 1986, which happens to load very slowly (kind of funny to me) and then has a damn "sign in with Google" popup.
Yep, we sure do that in 1986.
