I am not overwhelmingly surprised, but I am immensely disappointed that Reddit tried playing it off like they were going to work with developers and be reasonable about this, and this is what we got. This is such terrible news.
And, for what it's worth, the current status on free access to the Reddit API: "All others will continue to access the Reddit Data API without cost, in accordance with our Developer Terms, at this time. Many of you already know that our stated rate limit, per this documentation, was 60 queries per minute. As of July 1, 2023, we will enforce two different rate limits for the free access tier[...]" But for how long? And can we expect third party apps to start allowing us to enter our own API keys?

Our fun with Piper continues! Three new voices were just added to the folder, two of them trained by @ZBennoui. The first is a British Female from data put out by Harvard. I think this one is my favorite; her voice is very pleasant and it works great as a screen reader voice. The most intriguing of these new additions is a model that Zach trained on his own voice. This is sort of a prototype, but an amazing one at that. Our minds were blown when we heard it because he only used about seven minutes of audio. It definitely sounds a bit more computerized, but it is super robust even with this little data. And finally, a model I trained on the CLB dataset from Festival. This is a US Female voice. There are a number of these Festival datasets, so I will likely train a few more. Would love to know what you think of these new voices. drive.google.com/drive/folders…

OK, let's try that again from the right account..... How can you tell if you're talking to an AI? Easy. Does it eventually end in a loop? AI. The funny this is this always happens. Like it never doesn't happen. Let them talk for long enough and a loop is inevitable.
@talon LOL yes. It's really quite transparent at the moment. You can get it to fall back to the "AI language model" lines without even trying. It says it's similar to GPT, but is actually a conversational AI made by OpenAI. It also doesn't think GPT 4 exists. Weird.
I didn't manage to record this, but I flipped the script on Annie and made her think I was the AI. Asked her what it was like to be human and all that. She kept referring to me as an AI language model but fabricating details of her own life. I don't know why this amuses me, but it definitely does.
