I feel like local-first is the biggest thing that can give native apps an edge over websites. Looking at apps.gnome.org/ the situation already looks pretty good. It's a bummer that Wike requires internet to browse Wikipedia. On the other side Warp transparently uses the local network if possible to send files.

In the second screenshot in the parent post is a list of follower suggestions, with large "Dismiss" and "Follow" buttons.

Note when the game offers an uncommon taxon; itβs trying to βmake roomβ for a specific species that doesnβt fit into a more common taxon.
Most common openers:
Always guess βbox turtleβ first. If the parent is Amniota you likely have a mammal; guess a placental one. Preferably a domestic one because they have a lot of taxa above them. Guess one domestic hooved mammal (I like cattle), and if that doesnβt narrow it down to Artiodactyla or something more specific then switch to a different member of Laurasiatheria. If youβre somehow at Boreoeutheria, guess a rodent with many taxa above it like a chipmunk.
If the parent of your first guess is Archelosauria, you likely have a bird; robin and goose are good guesses. If you guess one and the parent is Neognathae, guess the other. If itβs something more specific, guess a closer relative. Thisβll narrow down the order of birds quickly.
If after guessing βbox turtleβ you find that the parent is Bilateria, switch to symmetrical invertebrates (not starfish unless itβs a more specific parent). If itβs something more specific that includes fish but excludes invertebrates, guess a fish. Donβt start with sharks; theyβre too isolated from the other fish with more taxa above them.
An example of the βuncommon taxonβ phenomenon: if the parent is mammalia then youβre almost certainly dealing with a monotreme. Otherwise it would be the more specific Artiodactyla,Laurasiatheria,Boreoeutheria, or some other taxon for mammals that excludes monotremes.

I wrote a Dart package for speech-dispatcher, enabling TTS on Linux. It also works with Flutter for Linux. The package supports most features of speech-dispatcher, with additional support for less commonly used functionality like history coming soon. It still needs broader testing, so feel free to open any issues you encounter. My hope is that one of the TTS packages for Flutter will start using it to add Linux support, as most, if not all, currently don't support Linux.

My guess: nobody has ever paid an individual or single team to design, implement, and polish a coherent audio stack from the ground up. I wonder, though, how much would actually need to be replaced to solve this long-standing problem. Does the ALSA kernel subsystem have design flaws, or only userspace?
On my machine, audio on Linux is mono and poorer than on Windows. I tried to apply special effects using PulseAudio, which broke my audio to the point I had to re-install the system, because a pulseAudio reset didn't solve it. So, it appears that general audio is good, but soundcard specificities are the problem.
tbh it's not really that bad, in the sense that if you're just doing something normal and you haven't rolled the unluck dice of incompatible hardware - pipewire works generally very well. Issues with configuration and whatnot tend to be distro / DE specific rather than any overarching problem with audio. And they're the usual situation of entrenched poor ui design decisions.
I would be interested to know whether you think Pipewire and Wireplumber have design flaws. They seem to have gained community acceptance much more quickly than PulseAudio ever did, and they're intended to supersede Jack as well for low-latency applications such as audio editing. I haven't delved into the details, as my audio has been working with these packages installed, so I haven't been motivated to understand the configuration system.
