I really love this description of a retracted study: not only does it explain what was retracted (turns out men don't generally divorce their sick wives), but also it covers what the error was (a coding problem treated people who left the study as divorced) how it all went down (someone tried to replicate, asked for data and didn't get the same analysis. Contacted the authors and they were horrified and immediately worked to retract).
It's a really nice story of why replication matters and how to be good at science. This is how I was taught science should work, but I rarely come across such good retrospectives.

Wow, that is pretty insane. I had briefly heard about the Cardinal and then forgot about it. Sometimes, when APH sells a product from another vendor with their own branding, it usually has some modification to that product which makes it unique from the original. This was true with their APH Speech Plus calculator, which was based off of the Telesensory version, as well as their Bookport players which were modified Plextalk devices. That being said, I wonder if they added anything unique that wasn't in the VR Trek. The Cardinal's feature list mentions having the ability to provide two languages. I wonder if that's one of the differences as I don't think the Trek offered that capability.
I owned one for a few months before I chose to sell it. I'm not 100% certain but I thought that it had 32 GB. If Humanware had a Mastodon presence, we could ask them but I don't think that they're out here.

Disability Rights New York has filed a class action lawsuit against Nassau County seeking an injunction to stop the enforcement of mask bans.
This is exactly the kind of action we need to see happen against discriminatory & ableist mask bans.
Law enforcement should not be the arbiter of who is “sick enough” to legally wear a mask. Many disabilities are invisible - and police are NOT doctors.
