@bagder Hey. They're talking about your stuff over at OSI discuss. Not sure if you knew or not. Maybe you could shed some light on the topic. discuss.opensource.org/t/curl-…

IDF dismisses the deputy commander of the Golani Brigade’s reconnaissance unit after his forces opened fire on a convoy of ambulances and emergency vehicles in southern Gaza’s Rafah, killing 15 rescue workers. timesofisrael.com/idf-ousts-of…

Had fun at the Retro Computer Museum today in Leicester UK. Plenty of hands-on retro computers and consoles as well as an arcade area too.

Friendly volunteers who obviously were passionate about the collection and helping out there.

Really worth a visit!

The web is broken, IMHO

So there is a (IMHO) shady market out there that gives app developers on iOS, Android, MacOS and Windows money for including a library that sells users network bandwidth. Infatica [1] is just one example, there are many more.

I am 99% sure that these companies cause what effectively are DDoS attacks that many webmasters have to deal with since months. This business model should simply not exist. Apple, Microsoft and Google should act.

Playing with various technologies tonight. Managed to setup a brand new debian 12 systemd-nspawn container. Now looking through various documentation and other internet sources to combine it to a working #chatmail relay server. The thing is I only have a single IP address on the host system so I need to adapt it so the nginx running on the host either redirects or proxies to the container. Plus I guess I need to share the certificate in some way so postfix and dovecot can use it too.

This came up in my downstate townhalls last weekend. Soybean farmers are not happy about Trump's idiotic tariffs, nor about cutting USAID, which bought 1 million tons of food per year. As I've said before, if you think Trump gives a damn about you, you're wrong. nytimes.com/2025/04/20/busines…

I came across this tree today in Kelvingrove Park in Glasgow. This city can be weird sometimes. Imaginative, creative, amusing, but still rather weird - wonderfully, wonderfully weird!

I've got a quick favour to ask. If you're reading this post on Mastodon (or the Fediverse), please click boost.

How come?

I recently moved across to my own self-hosted single-user server (using GoToSocial.org). For a bunch of reasons, including visibility across the Fedi, it would really help out.

Despite their Mastodon faceplant, I think the Raspberry Pi 500 could be a great device for using and storing your more sensitive data on, since it has no telemetry and everything can be kept on a high capacity MicroSD card, which can easily be removed and stored away when not in use. Or removed and destroyed quickly and easily in the event that a rogue regime's agents start pounding on your door. Also, the 500 and matching monitor are ~$250 total.

When words fall short, symbols speak.

Like the patterns Ukrainians paint on Pysanky, their traditional Easter eggs.

They embody the resilience and hope of a nation, unbroken by the brutal Russian aggression.

The European Union stands by the Ukrainians’ side, committed to supporting them through this war and along their European path.

For a prosperous, peaceful future for all Europeans.

The shuttered DHS Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties β€œwas one of the very few tools we had to check ICE, to hold ICE accountable,” immigration lawyer Sophia Genovese said. β€œNow you see them speeding to complete authoritarianism.”
