Amazing seeing more orgs move over to LibreOffice, Amazing seeing full military sectors moving over as well. Most likely saved so much money per year as well.

Good for them !! Up here 🇨🇦 almost everything used is prorpietary Windows software. Although I have seen various moves to some open source software (Experimental) and some moves to Linux (Experimental).
So. My Proton subscription expires in November. I said I wouldn't renew due to their CEO's questionable politics. Their latest lean towards AI has been concerning too. I'm leaning towards @Tutanota as the go-to alternative - it only seems to have gotten better since I last looked.
I’m currently using iCloud for email as I already pay for the extended storage and it’s included, but I would love to switch to Tutanota.
I tried Tutanota some years ago and I didn’t stick with it because the service lacked crucial features and user experience, but it seems that a lot has changed since then.
I quite liked Tuta! My only issue with it is probably my own fault at least in part. I'm willing to try @Tutanota again, but technical issues have been high for me.
Entirely my own fault: I made an account and forgot about it, no key, absolutely a fail on my part. I put in a ticket, they SO KINDLY let me create another single free account and closed the old one.
I don't THINK my fault: Unfortunately, something has happened and it won't ever load. I made a point to save the key, went through all of Tuta's recommended troubleshooting + blog and still can't access it.
Tbh I am too embarrassed to try again >.> I am considering paying for it in the future. my other recommendation is MailFence. I do not know anything about their political stances though at the moment.
@QuirkyQuark Could you try a different connection? In case you're trying via a vpn - it's possible that this is blocked due to spammers abusing the same vpn.
I’m in a similar boat. The issue, for me, with both Proton and Tuta is that there’s no IMAP support and that makes migrating to a new provider difficult. Unfortunately my need for open protocols and easy vendor portability probably outweighs my desire for encrypted-at-rest email.
They’re all problematic though. Fastmail busts unions. Proton’s CEO is clueless if not actively malicious. Tuta locks you in. The small providers have issues with being blackholed. It’s a whole thing.

@jae @debian @danielcberman FreeBSD has been making a lot of strides in hardware compatibility as of late. I think GhostBSD has a lot to do with that. FreeBSD for servers (unless it's just for postgres then use DragonflyBSD unless you want zfs) and GhostBSD for desktop/laptop. It's comfy.
