Last day enjoying this calendar as wallpaper on my second monitor in the office. It's one of my fave shots. Good memory of a nice evening spent with mates.

The belief that unfair trade practices are at fault isn’t only false, but also one of those enduring myths that refuses to die.Gearoid Reidy (The Japan Times)
Coca-Cola is installing what the company claims to be the world’s first hydrogen-powered vending machines at the World Expo 2025, which will open to the public in Osaka, Japan, on April 13th, 2025. Co-developed by Fuji Electric, the machines don’t need access to a power outlet and instead rely on replaceable hydrogen cartridges to fuel a chemical reaction that generates electricity, @theverge reports:

"Let's move somewhere else!" - I see this often these days in my time line.
As a German living in Japan, let me share the factors important to on deciding where I want to live, and how #Japan and Germany are doing.
How do other countries fare by these criteria?
February 6th was chosen for "Matcha Day" as the date is a play on words...
When the numbers 2⃣ (February) and 6⃣ (6th) are put together they can be pronounced as 'Furo' (風炉).
🔥🍵Furo is portable stove used for tea ceremonies during the summer (from May-October).

Walking around Kyoto and seeing beauty around every corner. The train passing by becomes an art work and an attraction.

#Bonsai I worked on today. Happy with how it looks for the time being. Spring will call for a little more wiring and some defoliation.

Bewildered moment this week:
At the skin doctor, first an assistant asks some questions and fills them into the computer, then says "wait for the doctor" and leaves me alone with the unlocked system. 5min, would have been enough to lookup data of other people.
Awareness for these things is low in #japan , I touch on this in blog.fluxcoil.net/posts/2020/1…

This looks like fun!
In North America, we have rails-to-trails, turning old rail lines into bike and hiking trails.
In #Japan, they kept the rails...
The Kamioka Line, discontinued in 2004, is now a “rail-mountain bike” attraction known as “Gattan Go!!”
Life is Cinema.
Shot this up at the wonderful Tamagawa Sengen Shrine a couple of days ago.
Six vertical shots stitched into a cinematic panorama.
I like longer lenses and how they render the world, especially when shot with the aperture wide open.
You can't really get the same look shooting the whole scene in one shot, with a wide.
The word 'kōyō' (紅葉), although used for all autumn colours, specifically refers to 'red leaves'. The word 'ōyō' (黄葉) describes 'yellow leaves', and the word 'katsuyō' (褐葉) 'brown leaves'.
Warm sunny days and crisp cold nights help leaves achieve their most vivid colours.
Admiring the autumn foliage is known as 'momijigari' (紅葉狩り lit. 'hunting for autumn leaves') in Japanese🔎👀🍁👏
The 'gari' (狩り) in 'momijigari' (紅葉狩り) originally referred to the capturing of wild animals and birds, but over time also came to mean 'harvesting', 'gathering' or 'picking' plants.
Another example of this is 'kudamono-gari' (果物狩り), which means to gather fruit.
Weather is not climate but ...
"... across Japan the skies are clear, and the mercury is stuck in the high 30s and has twice broken through 40C this week. And that's just the official temperature - out of the shade it's often much hotter. Even though summer has barely begun, 263 places across Japan have seen temperature records broken in the last six days, according to meteorologist Sayaka Mori."
