"RemoveWindowsAI" is a script created by zoicware, available on GitHub, that does exactly what it says: it remove every AI feature in Windows 11. Do what you wish to do with this information. I'm sharing this because some folks are forced to use Win11 at work or other places for any reasons.
To make it clear, I don't agree with the under 16 ban of social media because: 1. It won't remove bullying from teens' lives 2. The age verification tech will actually be used to compromise identity and may actually be used *for bullying* 3. Teens will not learn how to engage with social media. 4. Alternatives to using social media are not "riding a bike" or "reading a book", but actually "talking to Chat GPT". Good luck with that.
The new web-based WhatsApp for Windows is uninstalled for now. After the forced switch from the previous app, messages simply stopped syncing on my PC. Nothing I send from Windows goes through, and anything that arrives on my phone never shows up on the desktop. Only Meta could take a perfectly good app and turn it into a trash-tier experience. Honestly, it’s unbelievable how consistently they manage this.
@FreakyFwoof Oh absolutely. At this point a browser tab is probably the most stable WhatsApp client Meta has ever shipped. Which is impressive, considering they didn’t actually “ship” it. 😄
Haha I hear you there. For now I still have the old client but I'm worried that one day I'll wake up and it will be gone forever. That will be a very sad day indeed.
The funny part is… that sad day has already come for me. I woke up this morning, opened the old client, and Meta had just killed it. No warning, no apology, no “we messed up,” nothing. At this point I’m convinced Meta doesn’t sunset apps, they just ambush them in the dark. 😄
@FreakyFwoof Based on my experience that's exactly what will happen unfortunately. It was a very sad day for me as well. Brian Hartgen's scripts make a massive difference, but of course that only helps if you're a JAWS user. I'm not sure how things are with NVDA add-ons at the moment, but I'd be surprised if there wasn't something out there to help make it a bit more usable

Hi @NVAccess if possible in a future in prossess blog, could you tell us how to interact with split buttons on windows? For example when a windows update requires restart, the button is a split button. The default action is to restart the machine, but I think there are more options to it and I am not sure how to find them. Somebody told me in the past but I don't remember. I couldn't find anything online. If I type split buttons, I get the buttons for split screen etc.
Usually either down arrow or alt+down arrow (both work if you press say alt+d to go to desktop then alt+f4 to open the shutdown dialog. alt+down arrow works in the Office ribbon on split buttons. I thought there were some in Windows settings, but I can't find them now (or they've changed them).

@vick21 I agree, just as Delta became part of reaper for effects. That was something that I had made years ago in the form of an effects chain, but Scot brought the idea forward and it is part of reaper today.
Here it is. I went through many many Youtube videos to dig out these. The sounds of: First a Monarch, then a dotPad X, then the Cadence. all 3, side by side. Interesting to me that DotPad's noise is more fragmented, maybe a tad louder than Monarch, almost on-par with Cadence. Cadence may be the loudest, but also fastest-refreshing (which is where they'll always have an advantage, even when you pair 2 or 4 that refresh rate doesn't go up.) Refresh rates between DotPad and Monarch feel comparable to me: Around 1.5 to 2.5 seconds, depending on your text's complexity.
@Bri yeah, granted perhaps if you equalized volumes to the exact same levels on all 3, I still think Cadence comes out as loudest, then DotPad very very close (and also a sharper sound) while Monarch leaves that almost softer noise piezo-electric Braille makes but more in a wave. I find that interesting as you'd think DotPad would refresh a little faster, but it appears to still be about the same, it's only a marginal change despite 25% less pins.
@vick21 I do wonder if DotPad X has the membrane around it, like how Monarch does. If it's not the same kind of feeling that way then we know it also helps to dampen noise to some extent, as it would probably be a super sharp-sounding wave without it perhaps. But who knows. I'm sure there's a reason the DotPad X costs somehow were kept down at 1/3 of Monarch, despite having 1/3 less cells overall.
@vick21 20 cells instead of 40 less lines no internal apps on Dot Pad. That's how. i'm not critical of any of them and think they all have their place but glad to have my Monarch back.
