I'm old enough to remember when this would be displayed on their platform because of a single browser support.
in reply to Hubert Figuière

just to clarify. FIrefox isn't a supported browser. And don't tell me "it's beta". Because you'll sound like a Googler, and I don't mean this as a compliment.
in reply to Hubert Figuière

there is probably some API Firefox is missing, and the tiny user share makes it impractical to support, been there myself. At some point you have to own the browser choices you make.
in reply to Hubert Figuière

I tried Firefox and Chrome on my Android phone and basically every browser on my Linux desktop. (Firefox, Chromium, Chrome, Edge, and even GNOME Web.) Nothing is supported.

Apple is total clown shoes. They must be restricting by user agent string. There's no reason it shouldn't work on Linux, especially in GNOME Web / Epiphany.

Awesome news, I found the User guide for the Bop It blast online. Horrible news, it’s one of those PDFs that is all images.

Dear fediverse. Is there a pocket calculator that does, among other things, hex / octal / binary / dec conversion? I already hate using the phone for the calculator as the inteligence make the touch screen unusable, and it doesn't even do the conversions...
in reply to Hubert Figuière

HP-16c but they are unreasonably expensive. I’d just use the phone anyway.
in reply to peterb

@peterb yeah I didn't mean a collector item. As for using the phone, given how often it mistype numbers... that's part of the frustration non-withstanding that it doesn't do that. (or it's hidden and I haven't found it)

in reply to Juan CBS

Aquí tenemos 24 gradazos. Casi a media noche. Nos salva el viento.
in reply to Juan CBS

in reply to 🏁david🏁

I think we need to encourage people to stop using phrases like "Rupert Murdoch is worth $8.3 billion" and replace them with the more accurate "Rupert Murdoch *controls* $8.3 billion." People aren't worth any more or less because of their wealth or lack of it. The phrase encourages a sloppy and immoral habit of thought.

Sensitive topic, but I feel strongly:

Some Christians were outraged at the Olympics opening ceremonies because they thought a brief scene mocked the Last Supper. In fact, the scene was an interpretation of the Feast of Dionysus. (The giant blue Greek God in the center of the table was a pretty obvious tell, I think.)

Yup. I absolutely loved Automenu, because it just showed how powerful batch files could be. I got it originally from the guy who ran our local radio shack. He actually came to visit me for a couple of hours a month or two ago.
in reply to Jason Fayre

Wow, that sounded cool. The first version of Openbook as actually called EasyScan and it was just a bunch of sophisticated batch files written by Noel Runnion.

Dear websites: Stop asking me to sign in with Google, especially when I have no reason to sign into your site. I thought we already learned our lesson on centralized authentication and it was supposed to be "Don't outsource authentication unless you have no other choice". I guess I should interpret the ubiquity of Google sign-in as confirmation that we as a society have learned absolutely nothing from the various centralization of authentication failures we've experienced over the last decade.

No love,

Me

When using #hashtags, I do understand they can cause issues for the visually impaired who are using #ScreenReaders. This is why I always use #camelCase or #PascalCase in all my hashtags. I have heard some users of screen readers say that putting all the hashtags at the end of a post is preferred. Is it because of the way readers work? I guess the reader might say "number" or "pound sign" in front of every hashtag, which could be awkward if there are a lot of them inline. #Accessibility
in reply to Kenneth J. Jaeger

as a #ScreenReader user myself, I'm happier if they are used inline when they make sense in the sentence. If you're talking about #Accessibility and want to tag it, that works. What causes the most issues I think are a long series of hashtags which, if they aren't at the end of a post, we have to listen through to know if there's more to hear.
in reply to Sean Randall

@cachondo Yeah, inline is good within reason and only if it makes sense, otherwise after the body text. Putting them at the start is a quick way to be muted.
in reply to Sean Randall

@cachondo Depends on discussion. If I'm talking about #accessibility and put the hashtag there, yes. But if the text has more than 2-3 hashtag in same sentence, it may sound quite unfriendly. Not pleasant to read "I am working on hashtag WordPress to improve its hashtag accessibility as I find hashtag diversity and hashtag inclusion an essential value for civilized hashtag society..."
in reply to Elena Brescacin

@talksina @cachondo i personally don't see anything wrong with this. I'd rather hashtags be inline than all stacked at the end, especially if some of the hashtagged words are already in the post.
in reply to aaron

@fireborn @talksina There's surely a balance, though. Some people add tens of tags. It gets crazy if those are inline. If they are all meaningful words with just the octothorp and you hold off on your keywords for indexing or searches at the end, I think that's the best choice.
in reply to Sean Randall

@cachondo @talksina If they're just for adding keywords to find the post by then putting them at the end makes sence.
in reply to Sean Randall

@cachondo @fireborn @talksina I have to admit, I do sometimes try to work an extra tag or two into the middle of a post, but if they don't really fit, I will put them at the end. I just don't like having a big pile of #hashtags at the end of a post. It starts to feel like #HashtagSpam (if that is a thing).

in reply to Ondřej Caletka

A to chtějí aby poplatky platil každý, kdo má přístup k internetu. A pak dostane takto osekanou službu…
in reply to Marián Kyral

poplatky bych si toho radši netahal. Ostatně ten problém není na straně ČT, jako spíš na straně výboru-jehož-jméno-je-zakázáno-vyslovit, který si pod rouškou "ochrany symboliky" proloboval neskutečně drakonický copyright a kterému to bohužel stále prochází.
This entry was edited (1 month ago)
in reply to Ondřej Caletka

in reply to Tritol

in reply to Ondřej Caletka

@tritol128 @mkyral Co několik pořadů... V podstatě všechny dodatečné sportovní kanály (dnes pod hlavičkou ČT Sport Plus) jsou čistě internetové. Často jich běží i několik souběžně, na terestrice to nikde není.
in reply to Ondřej Caletka

olympijskytym.cz/article/cov-p…

in reply to Ondřej Caletka
