Friendica 2022.10 seems to be sending malformed email notifications

@Friendica Support
I am the system administrator of the Friendica node at talkabout.cf, and have just updated the node to version 2022.10, along with a system upgrade to Ubuntu 22.04 and an updated web control panel. I just received several email notifications that were garbled in my inbox. I was able to trace the problem to some header lines that have an extra space at the beginning of each line. I am including these redacted headers below. I also leave a couple of lines above and below intact to make these extra leading spaces visible.

The message ID of course is added by the mail transfer agent before the message is delivered, but I left that header because it is immediately above the Subject: header, which does not contain a leading space. I did resend the message by copying and pasting the garbled source message into a text editor, removing the leading space from each line and copying and pasting it back into a direct connection to my local SMTP server, sending the message to myself, and I received the correctly decoded message. Did I find a bug in the latest 2022.10 Friendica code, or did something go wrong with the upgrades that I performed prior to the update that somehow didn't affect anything other than these mail headers?

Mittlerweile ist jede fünfte App aus meinen AppListen in einem #FDroid Repo zu finden :awesome:

🇺🇸 Meanwhile every 5th app of my #Android #app listings can be found in an F-Droid repo :awesome:

Oh man, just wait until people figure out that they can actually send in pull requests for features they'd like to see in Mastodon. 🐘🚀

I've been talking with many friends considering moving to Mastodon, so I tried to writeup my thoughts about why and how to do that! it's not comprehensive, instead like a casual chat, but hope it's helpful!

feel free to share; feedback & q's welcome

With the upcoming bugfix to the Thread Unroller bot (of spamming everyone, multiple times 😅 ) , I also took the liberty to vamp up the home page. It will show the last 5 threads made by the bot AND it now also takes pictures into consideration when it makes a thread!

(Thanks to @oldwired for suggesting the images 😊 ).

Changes should be live tonight (CEST timezone) :) I just need to figure out the images on mobile!

Also, YES it will support alt text on images

@blindscribe During the parsing of toot in the thread.

What will happen is, it will ask the API of the specific Mastodon instance about each toot. During that time it will also get details about the media attachments and that media attachment detail will also include the alt text. The bot will store references to the images and alt text locally in its own database.

References to ableism & ableist language, blog post

In searching for an instance to join, I noticed that many do not mention ableism in their ToC. I care about avoiding ableist language, so I picked one that did mention it.

I do notice quite a bit of ableist language in the larger fediverse, so decided to write a blog post of common objections to avoiding ableist language, and my responses to them.

Here it is: medium.com/@kavanaram/avoid-ab…

One of my favourite #emacs #magit features is `magit-cherry-donate`.

It moves a commit from the current branch to another branch without switching to the other branch.

This is really great when you work on feature X and see a typo or a mistake that isn't related to what you're currently working on: Just create a quick “Fix typo” commit and move it to `main` (or some branch where you'll process it later) and continue working on your feature – without risking including an unrelated, distracting change in your commit/PR, and without having to remember it for later.

#Winter is definitely coming and it's freezing where I am as I am trying to resist switching the heating on for as long as I can LOL.

But I thought I'd share this lovely wintery scene which I shot last winter in the #ArcticCircle in #FinnishLapland.

Maybe you’ve seen Stranger Things. Maybe you haven’t, but either way, you’ve probably heard of the Kate Bush song ‘Running Up That Hill’? Well I used a tool to take apart the track, nabbed the vocal and the intro keyboard sound and did a sort of piano + Vocal version just for fun. youtu.be/bp3KAUuOx2g

I hereby proudly announce a new release of #Adebar 🥳

Version 2.3.0 is now available in the "usual places". A changelog can be found at codeberg.org/izzy/Adebar/relea… (description of Adebar in the Readme, help & more in the wiki athttps://codeberg.org/izzy/Adebar/wiki )

Enjoy! :awesome:

in reply to CryptGoat

@cryptgoat If your device is rooted, Adebar has a (not yet widely tested) alternative in the tools/ directory.

IIRC starting with Android 12, "adb backup" will no longer pull app data (unless the app is marked for debug), so the problem indeed is close. Imagine they'd do that to your PCs backup tools – that'd be an outcry! So I wonder why it's OK with Android…

Might need to test work-arounds like using bmgr directly on-device and pull the results. Suggestions/help welcome!

I hereby thank @partialcontent@twitter.com for a plausible explanation, there's indeed underpass on that place.

(And here starts the madness of Twitter/Fediverse crossposting 😊) social.tchncs.de/@partim/10929…

Looks like there is an underpass below. My guess would be that the bedding is shallow and the sleepers are of reduced height with the rails providing extra stability. This used to be an application for wooden or steel sleepers which have a smaller height.

This was a tough post to write, thinking about the loss I – and certainly many others – feel about Twitter and for me how that fits into the loss of purpose to contribute to WCAG at the same time.
