Interesting open source alternative to #Calendly that I just DISCOVERED. Anyone know if it's accessible?

While the EFF debunks the "public wifi is dangeous" myth, I login to a company's guest wifi with a tiny little bit of paper (which I have to photograph and zoom in to be able to read the password) to then get a network connection which supports TCP/443 only. (Yes, girls and boys, neither SSH nor mail submission or any other of those pesky protocols)

Have a nice day.

I've asked it in a poll in 8/2021 at Mastodon.technology, now it's time for a refresher: To improve #security I finally consider to really drop support for #TLS 1.0/1.1 (see blog.qualys.com/product-tech/2… and e.g. ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.ht…). This basically would affect devices running Android < 4.4. As I do not want to lock anybody out, I'd like to see how many of you would this effect.

🇩🇪 Noch wer mit Android < 4.4 unterwegs und somit auf TLS 1.0/1.1 angewiesen (1. ja, 2. macht nix, 3. nein)?

So:

  • I still use such a device and need compatibility (1%, 4 votes)
  • I still use such a device but wouldn't mind (6%, 21 votes)
  • I don't care (92%, 320 votes)

Running #archlinux ! After 3 wonderful and mostly problem-free years with #manjaro I decided to move forward and do what I've been putting off for so long and try Arch ... after much consideration I've decided to forego any installation script and get the full experience with manual installation. I got it right on the first try. It's not as hard as some rumors say ... 😎

I know it is not going to resonate much with people in English speaking countries, but this has been a major issue for people who use alphabets with special characters (my native Czech included).

For years #PDF viewers on #Linux such as #Evince couldn't save characters outside the basic charsets in PDF forms. It turned out to be a complex problem and multi-year effort, but it's finally done and you can use unicode in PDF forms. First available in #Fedora 37 where we've already backported it.

@jpavonabian y @Javichi

Study of faculty searches at R1 university finds committees consider women's—but not men's—relationship status in hiring. Women w/ high-status partners were considered not 'movable' & excluded from offers when there were male or single female alternatives. ""Conversely, committees infrequently discussed male applicants’ relationship status and saw all female partners as movable."

The state of maturin/pyo3 is absolutely brilliant. The fact that writing Rust bindings for Python is so easy now really makes me much more optimistic about the utility of Python going forward.

Registration is *not* open yet, but you may wish to know in advance to plan for it.

MGS has run annually since 1999, and is hosted by the Universites of Birmingham, Leicester, Nottingham, and Sheffield in rotation. This time it will take place in Birmingham, 2-6 April.

intro! I'm Garrett, a PhD student at Montana State. I'm interested in homotopy type theory and proof assistants (particularly on the "assistant" side, e.g. streamlining their use, implications on written proofs and math communication). besides math, I've played viola for most of my life (and also play piano and percussion, and would *like* to start writing music and poetry), and enjoy watching movies, cooking/baking, playing board games and video games (especially Splatoon!), and hugging friends

Yep, that's the one. I like that it starts at the beginning with the type-theory and Martin-Löf stuff. It's a good refresher for me and I always learn a few new things. Get tripped on silly stuff, like I was confused about how the context had only type judgements and nothing about how to construct the types themselves until I learned somewhere else that the rules to construct a type don't go in the context. But slowly I am learning more.

Before and after I made the door system at the #makerspace ✨different✨.

The RFID reader ended up dying on us, and replacement readers weren't getting along with the ancient custom-built door system. Thankfully, we had an extra #Arduino Uno laying around to bypass the legacy control circuitry (we lost the original source ages ago).

It just needs to last until the lease expires in 5 months, then it can catch fire. For the time being though, this Arduino is load-bearing infrastructure
