How small can a set of aperiodic tiles be? The first aperiodic set had over 20000 tiles. Subsequent research lowered that number, to sets of size 92, then 6, and then 2 in the form of the famous Penrose tiles. youtu.be/48sCx-wBs34 1/6

Here is a before-and-after of some audio recorded from my Kenwood TM-V71A's speaker output. Before is raw audio, after is enhanced with multiple tools, including Adobe Enhance, iZotope RX Spectral Recovery, and some general purpose dynamics processing. It's some two-way radio chatter from a nearby marina, recorded from 156.175 mHz in Belle Harbor, NY.

Worried about TikTok? Then pass comprehensive consumer data privacy legislation. By reducing the massive stores of personal data collected by all businesses, we will reduce opportunities for all governments to buy or steal this data. eff.org/deeplinks/2023/03/gove…

I asked ChatGPT to write a Win32 UI Automation provider (that is, an application/toolkit-side implementation of the current Windows accessibility API) in C++, and what I got was very wrong. mwcampbell.us/misc/2023-03-20-… Plausible-sounding, but still very wrong. Some of the stuff it refers to is part of the UIA _client_ API, and some is just bogus.

I converted the HTML output to Markdown, cleaned it up, and converted back. Really didn't want to do screenshots, and didn't know a better way.

Some really nice dynamic wallpapers for gnome. I'm using the Fuji one and it's looked great all day!

#gnome feeling like home.

Although it has been several years since I tried it, I can confirm it is incompatible with Talkback. This also applies to Hacker's Keyboard, Unexpected Keyboard and several other open source keyboards currently listed in F-Droid. Would it perhaps help if they started with the AOSP keyboard as a baseline, since it is open source and all keyboards based on it appear to be compatible with Talkback?

:fdroid: After several months of hard work, it's a good feeling to be able to say our @fdroidorg board of directors is officially chartered and running, and finally with an official legal entity through Dutch stichting (foundation) Commons Conservancy.

💚 Very humbled to be able to serve in this inaugural group of talented volunteers, and even more excited about helping #FDroid into the future.

If any of you have found the font-script-shaping docs I maintain on GitHub useful over the years, I started a conversion to build them into an HTML minisite (with Sphinx) & would really value your feedback: github.com/n8willis/opentype-s…

or, just tell someone else who'd be interested?

The goal is to move them away from being "a thing that lives on a GitHub URL" and towards being "something that exists as documents (which for now happen to be reachable via GitHub, but can be anywhere)"

Tomorrow I'll be joined by @matt! We'll be talking about accessibility - how assistive technolgies have evolved, along with technical details of modern tools.

Nearly 3 years after first releasing Riot Medicine, I published the first major revision.

New Content:
- Oral and Dental Injuries
- Wound Packing
- Nosebleeds
- Medic Self-Defense

There were some other updates to language plus fixes for all the hundreds of typos that people have found.

As always, this is free to download, print, and distribute.

If you're looking to get a physical copy, some fine folx are hoping to have it printed in April/May.

Users are reporting that they can't sign up with a Tutanota email address at WalletHub. Check out the reason given by their support - it will make you laugh! 😂

Dear @WalletHub could you please fix this?!

Hm, WalletHub is not on Mastodon. 🤔Maybe that's the issue. If they were, they would know that Tutanota is among the finest secure email services out there!
