Have you ever had something you've been trying to find for years and years? Well this is mine. The music in this 90's Andrex ad has had me curious for about 30 years, and I'd love to find out what it actually is. I heard it on BBC Radio 3 once, whilst in the back of a cab, but never again. Shazam, Soundhound and Google haven't been able to help me out here, so I pose it to the wider world. Any ideas welcome. Please boost if you've a mind to do so. I really want to find this thing before I die.

#AudioMo: Some time in 2001 I caught a particular episode of the British Soap #EastEnders on a VHS tape. One part stood out to me as highly amusing, so I rewound that bit and recorded it. It makes a great critical stop sound, and amuses me to this day. You might go so far as to call it a 'Critical Dot' sound, as the character who got scared by the dog is called Dot.

#AudioMo: Yesterday we had two quite lengthy thunderstorms pass through, so I took the best bangs I could find from the outside stream and put them into one file back-to-back so you don't have to listen to two hours of audio. Let's see how this goes.

I'm thinking about the new start window for Renga with the new anonymous chat option. I think I'm going for this but I don't like that "create new account" is a radio item+a button (in the current version it's just a button and there is no radio list)
Any idea how to avoid this? Thought about it on and off for a few days but didn't come up with something convincing

Back at work after the first King's Birthday holiday in 70 years! Might need some more time off....

I make up certificates for clients who complete our certification at work - usually I copy their name out of the email to make sure it's right. Unfortunately, this time, when I went to paste into the template, the user's name wasn't the last thing on the clipboard. Thinking I might print this one for myself...

Today I learned that you can get the name of a Win32 window message registered with RegisterWindowMessage using GetClipboardFormatName. Neat trick! stackoverflow.com/questions/40…

24 hours of Earth's rotation, with the camera locked to the sky instead of the ground. We're all hanging out on this spinning rock.

On July 23, 2020, at the age of 99, Robina Asti gave her last flight lesson at Riverside Municipal Airport in California, setting a new record for world's oldest flight instructor. She would pass away peacefully in her sleep less than a year later at the home of her daughter, where she had moved during the Covid-19 pandemic.

During her more than 70-year aeronautics career, she was stationed at Wake Island, and later Midway Island in the run up to WWII, where she flew reconnaissance planes in order to detect Japanese ships. She was later promoted to test pilot, and finally discharged after the war with the rank of lieutenant commander.

Then she began teaching others to fly.

After transition, she became chairperson of a women's aviation organization known as The Ninety-Nines. Working with that group, she successfully petitioned the FAA to change their rules for women seeking a pilot's license, dropping the requirement for a highly invasive internal physical exam.

"An unprecedented 700,000 people are now facing a dire shortage of drinking water due to the Kakhovka dam destruction" -UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Martin Griffiths

Griffiths also warned that the devastating impact of the flooding in #Ukraine , one of the world’s key food-producing regions, will inevitably result in reduced grain exports, leading to higher global food prices and exacerbating the hunger crisis for millions in need.

Joseph Laroche was the only black person of the Titanic’s 2,223 passengers & crew. On April 10, 1912, he joined the ship with his family at Grande Rade harbor, France. Despite enjoying the ship's lavish offerings & dining 1st class, the family faced scorn b/c of their interracial marriage. He went down with the ship. Later, White Star Line apologized for the racism of its crew towards non-white passengers.
