Canada's transport minister said he is determined to get to the bottom of a recent train delay that left Via Rail passengers stranded for about 10 hours in Quebec over the long weekend.
You haven't funded it properly for decades you dumb fucking bastard.
they can't fund what they don't own. Which is the gist of the problem. They privatized railroad after bailing them out through a crown corp, and when railroad didn't want to do passenger service anymore, they decide to provide a publicly funded service as a second rate on top of for profit "not-giving-a-fuck" private railroads.
Yes it's a structural policy failure.

It's become hard to follow Covid levels, and I've got a bunch of travel coming up over the next few months (NC, LA, MA, and MO), so I put together this bot that publishes state-by-state Covid levels, as tracked in wastewater. It posts once weekly, Saturday, which is when the CDC updates their numbers.
I basically just made this for me, but perhaps others might find it useful.

Montreal to Ottawa, it's a toss up, but back then I had the car for the final destination in the NCC (the O-train still doesn't cross the river)
in 2003 I did commute 230 km by train. It took 1h platform to platform. It was in France.
