APCA is no longer part of WCAG3. You can still use it, but for conformance (legal, policy, etc.) reasons you will still need to follow WCAG2. It’s possible to satisfy both in most cases.

This is it, installing Windows 11 enterprise IoT LTSC. After HP Display Control service reinstalled for the 4th time in 2 weeks, I'm done. Don't even know what scheduled task or app is causing it to reinstall as all other HP programs are off my system and I'm not motivated to dig through scheduled tasks to see if one is sneaking in to silent install it. Looks like it would be pretty easy to build an office suite that follows the GNOME HIG. I recently figured out there is a LibreOffice tiled render that can be embedded into GTK, there is even a prototype in core of LibreOffice.
there is a broken branch that I started before gtk4 was in 4.0 and broke as more API got removed. The main issue is that it build menus and that API was yanked. And moving to use GMenu, the work in incomplete. Not sure if I published the WiP branches but I can do that if needed.
My strategy is to try do as much in the gtk3 code. Like moving to Event Controllers, GMenu, etc.

I suppose I just don't get surprised or upset anymore when another proprietary vendor does something silly but we have to survive in their environment.
I think this is entirely a Microsoft problem, even if I fear that we might need to patch something ugly into curl to mitigate the worst risks.
If only the transition to native Unicode wouldn't be a gargantuan undertaking. The world isn't UTF-16, so these interfaces need to be identified (with their encoding/codepage) and a conversions put in place. Windows UTF-8 support could be a solution, but it's stuck in beta, with issues. Switching the official curl build to Unicode is an option, but there are unresolved issues, e.g. string encoding in the libcurl API is undefined. I wish this would be easier.
Proposing this patch to re-enable Unicode in curl official Windows builds. Caveats described in 2021 remain, but perhaps now the balance tilts towards giving it another go: github.com/curl/curl-for-win/c…

Command line parsing on Windows is a pain; I haven't used Windows compilers in over a decade, so I don't know if you can get a
int main(int argc, wchar_t* argv[])
entry point these days. Using that should parse the command line as Unicode text and then one can convert each argument to UTF-8 or whatever and call the real "main" with that.

Could be... It won't hurt to have subtitles though. There is a lot of content I want to listen to, and the fact that there are no subtitles that are not onscreen so screen readers don't detect them, is disturbing. The whole YouTube app for example.
Yeah, that's fine. That's actually going to be helpful. Whisper is already good at transcriptions, so that has your captions covered. And yeah, probably many people will say, "how did they do it in the past? They were not lazy." But hey times change. We need accessible content, and people who create content shouldn't feel like this too much work to write subtitles. Imagine a 1hour video where you have to write subtitles by hand and translate? First to begin with, translation isn't that easy, then you have to sync all that. I think, that's a bit too painful, so tools helping us with that, be they AI or some kind of automation, in my opinion, is justified.

Earlier today took the first ride in the #Waymo driverless car and here is a quick recording of how the music sounds on the car speakers. I also make a few comments about some of the things the Waymo app allows me to do. But the experience is really quite accessible and simply amazing! It is hard to believe we are so close to the driverless future! :)
How's the experience finding the car if you're travelling independently? That's my biggest concern with autotaxis. I can often get the driver to shout out or help in crowded environments with Uber or Lyft.
@FreakyFwoof There are issues like in-car controls such as door locks or emergency situations that couldn't be controled by the passenger that also needed to be worked on. I'm not sure if anything got done by the org.
@ppatel @FreakyFwoof A lot of the things can be controlled from the app. you can eeven ask the card to pull over. There is a communication line with the help center where they can take control over the car functions. You can ask the car to play a sound to help you locate it. There is still an issue of the car not stopping right next to you, but the app does provide an accessibility toggel where you can ask Waymo to stop as close as possible. (1/2)
In the ride I took yesterday the car stopped literally few paces away. You can lock and unlock the car from the app. It's leaps from what it was just a few years ago. (2/2)
good to hear you had a good experience, and that the app is better than years back. I did hear of a recent story where one got stuck in a parking lot, and kept going around and around for several minutes.
yep, though it took the customer service reps a few minutes to actually get it to stop. they couldn't gain access at first, or so the report I saw said. the passenger was getting a bit nervous, from the video he posted.
