I have tried both the above ISO, and the those found on Myabandonware, with the DOSBox fork "Boxer" without any success. myabandonware.com/game/barbie-… (MyAbandonware ISOs are said to be corrupted - the one from archive.org loads on my Mac, but Boxer says that it does not contain a DOS executable.) Any ideas? I am trying to get this working for a less tech-savvy friend, so I need the solution to not be TOO complex for an average Mac user to follow.

very weird; not a typical failure mode. i suggest starting filing the bug on the client where you're seeing it and then it can routed to the server(s) as needed.
PSA: With macOS 15 Sequoia (released in September 2024), Apple has started shipping openrsync (created by Kristaps Dzonsons, from OpenBSD) as an alternative to the original rsync (“tridge”, from the Samba project).
When you run “rsync”, a wrapper will inspect your command and dispatch to either /usr/libexec/rsync/rsync.samba or rsync.openrsync: github.com/apple-oss-distribut…
If you need one version over the other, select them explicitly — and probably rsync.samba will disappear eventually…

Often in Florence one sees buildings like this, where one section is rough stone standing out amid stucco neighbors. It's actually a remnant of the old Guelph-Ghibelline feuds that so long rocked Medieval Italy 1/?
These are actually the bottom nubs of Medieval stone towers. The town of San Gimigniano is famous for having several still intact. Wealthy families built these as mini-fortresses within the city, where they could defend against riots, enemy families (think Montagues and Capulets) and invasion 2/?
Signs of wealth and prestige, these all-stone buildings were also fireproof, leading to a terrible but effective tactic: take your family, treasures & goods up into your tower then set fire to enemies' homes and let the city burn around you while you sit safe above. This was VERY BAD for cities 3/?
After many disasters, Florence's solution was to BAN private buildings over a certain height, forcing everyone who had a tower to knock the top off down to regulation height, leaving these recognizable stone nubs all around the city. This round one is the oldest (now a restaurant). 4/?
My favorite tower stub is this one, in Via dei Cerchi. I lived on the top floor for a year as a grad student, up 111 steps! I had calves of steel by spring, but the views from the top looked like someone had put a poster of Florence on the wall except it was a window! 5/?

The tower on the right here is part of Bargello, the prison & police fortress, but it didn't start that way. It was built by a private family, who sold it to the city when the law banning towers was passed, and the city incorporated it into their prison fort. 7/?

With #pixelfed gaining popularity and people experimenting with it, the project could probably benefit from a PHP developer to implement the native export/import function. As it is, it's rather funny that you can import an Instagram account archive, but you can't transfer a Pixelfed account to another server. Huh, since I've literally never been afforded the luxury of paying a capital gains tax and thanks to CBC's "like I'm a five-year-old" explanation, I realize I had some misconceptions about how it all works.
Before, when I thought it was an actual tax on investment earnings, 66% seemed fantastic. Now I'm wondering why it's not 100% and why the Liberals made the first quarter million exempt from the increase.
@hub Right, according to this CBC explanation, it's not even a tax just taxable income. If they were in any way interested in making how it works more clear, you'd think they'd flip it around and call it 34% free money.
Just to clarify: the tax change make that any capital gain over 250K is taxes at 66% (ie the tax is calculated on 66% of it instead of 100%) while the first 250K are still taxed at 50%.
You employment income is taxed at 100%.

Capital gains a real-estate sales, stock and other financial instrument, and few other things.
