Well, tomorrow's the big day. The day I tell people for the last time this round that I'm on vacation.

Wow, I might have to switch back to Android just to get away from the SMS spam! Lol, now they're doing the "hey it's been a long time since we've talk! How have you been?" kind of thing, and then they go "oh, are you my friend Henry?" So then after you say no, they'll go "Well that's okay, can we still talk?" And eventually they get to the whole "did you hear about the new program, for the elderly, poor, disabled, veterans, elderly, other people, elderly, oh please be elderly..." lol. But you can just about always tell because it's a number you've never interacted with, and it's an SMS. Not an iMessage, not an RCS message. Now, I know some Android users are gonna be using messaging apps that don't use RCS. But honestly the likelihood of that versus scam is kinda lopsided towards being a scam.

Poor Robokiller, they've not cracked down on this new tactic yet. And one almost got me too. My Pixel contacts were quite out of date, since I'd not added my new iPhone contacts yet. So I wasn't even sure if it was someone I really hadn't talked to in a long time, or what.

in reply to Devin Prater :blind:

I get those and I don't respond, as I don't want to confirm that they've hit a valid number. Wouldn't you get similar spam on Android phones?
in reply to David Goldfield

@DavidGoldfield spam, yes. However, there’s this call screening thing on the pixel line that will make the robots talk to a robot. In my experience, they don’t like it and tend to hang up very quickly.

I'm curious, how long have you all had your current cell number? This year will make 14 years for me.
in reply to Keri Svendsen

I've had the same cell number for around 31 years. Thought it was 21 but realized I was doing the math wrong.

@DavidGoldfield That is a long time. Awesome. I'm not the only one that doesn't change my number all the time like every couple years. lol

Remember when dreamhost was weird and indi and cool? I just went to their website for something, and wow how times have changed.

in reply to David Goldfield

That's the problem. Change the timeline, and the daleks are back. So it can never be 'forever.' I chuckled internally when I saw the name of this article.

I'm re-reading the paper that got @timnitGebru fired from Google and I'm realising now how they foreseen every problem related to LLM we're facing now. It's always good to re-read good papers (and depressing sometimes)

check with your doctor if they use ChatGPT for diagnostic purposes

If they do - find a new doctor

in reply to trif

When my GP was on holidays, I had to see a younger GP, that she taught ... He asked if it was ok to use chatgp ... I instantly responded "no, and if you want my reason you need to turn the clock off for this appointment, and I will explain"

Then when I saw I GP later, she asked me how it went, and we got into a discussion about chatgp being wrong to use in a consult

in reply to Lisa

@liseo I do, as well, but my primary interest is science fiction drama. I have the usual suspects like X Minus One and Dimension X, as well as lots of drama from the BBC. If you have any unusual or rare SF drama, I'd love to know about it.

Recently my friend’s brother had an electric fire. I called an electrician to check our house just in case and it turns out our smoke detectors are expired. I did not know those expired. So here’s a PSA for anyone else who needs to check on that! 💜

So me to web Chat GPT "create a simple black on white outline line drawing of the Sydney Opera House". Chat GPT out line drawing done. Me "change to JPG file format". Chat GPT done, and link created to download. Me, download, and show it on the Monarch. Pretty amazing.

I cannot possibly add to my filters all the stupid cutesy names all you pissed off scared people are calling Trump.

If I'm mad at someone,
I SAY THEIR NAME

If I'm afraid of someone,
I SAY THEIR NAME

If I'm warning others of someone,
I SAY THEIR NAME

I swear y'all got some kinda secret crush or something. Stop with the stupid cutesy names already.

This is Masto. WE USE FILTERS! It's like you want to purposely trigger people like aiming a fucking strobe light at them.

I have just read a most gloriously kink-informed science fiction short story. I am in awe of the author's powers of #kink negotiation. I think it might be the first time I've come across a story in this format, too.

I was just typing the word "blockchain". What came out was "blockchina". I am really sorry... :) I didn't mean it...

I swear every time I see not just a big post with a hundred of the same replies, but the hundredth big post on a subject with a hundred of the same replies, I am renewed in the fact that #FetchAllReplies will fundamentally change this place for the better. As far as I know only we and one other masto/glitch instance have it, and it is already without a doubt the biggest game changer I have ever experienced on the fedi - when everyone has it, it will just be a completely different network.

And with that I'm gonna work on the PR until it's Mon ster don time

Thread: I've been having a crap week, feeling sick all over the place, didn't play any music all of yesterday but today I sat down at the keys and wrote this weird little thing in 7/8, no drums, no tempo even. Fed it to #Suno for some ideas, and boy did I get some ideas! Just had to share some of them here. This is the original, and it's bad playing central. Luckily, Suno makes up for it. To me this is where AI can truly shine. Not just a random prompt and hit up a random word generator, but feeding it some ideas as a basis and letting it rip. 1/

Alright, now this has the most beautiful time-signature and I still haven't quite worked out what it is but I'm totally here for it. Probably my favourite generation of the lot. I got 8 in total, but this is the last one I'll share. I want to meet the drummer that can pull this off, and yes I know there are some of those out there for certain. #Suno

Wow, that is super complicated but beautiful. As a time signature nerd, I need to slow it down to figure out what's going on there. Did you manage to get it though finally?

It's like that story that after a government crackdown the people of China were learning English because of network restrictions.

Oh, I'm sorry I got that backwards.
