I was bad, made the BNT nerd toolbox @masonasons made run as a system process through PSExec, poof, now I can see the hundred SVCHost.exe process Windows runs at once, thank God for Winaero Tweker that lets me set the split limit so it's not so massively bad. Still, this is great, so as long as nobody injects code into the process, my stupidity of running it as the system user won't result in any bad consequences.

The amazing story of how a cooler and app have transformed organ transplants | digitaltrends
"...Paragonix recognized organ storage temperature couldn’t be too cold, and they were persevered more effectively between four-and-eight degrees celsius. It now produces a range of high-tech storage devices that cool, preserve, and even track the “health” of the organ it contains, along with a master app to simplify, streamline, and speed up the crucial flow of information throughout its journey...."

Any NVDA experts out here? I’ve got a machine that I’ve installed the ibm tts addon on and pointed it at the eci.dll file as required and no matter what I do I cannot get it to load. Anyone know what the issue might be? Everything is up to date too. Also I’ve another machine where it is working just fine and all the files are in the same place as this one. Only difference is one machine is a dell running win 10 while the other a Lenovo running 11. That’s literally the only thing that’s different. Thoughts/solutions/ideas? Only thing I’ve not tried is throwing it off my balcony though I’m sure my partner won’t appreciate that.

Tomorrow I'm going to be speaking to a small group of #blind students at a local high school. Apparently the teacher wants me to help motivate them to learn more about assistive technology, which they've fallen behind on; she specifically mentioned JAWS, but I've asked if I can talk about NVDA as well. It might help to have some ideas for fun things to do on a PC, things a high-schooler would enjoy, that require some mastery of a screen reader.

anyway, PSA for austrian trans people who didn't change their name in ÖBBs system i guess:
ÖBB doesn't allow you to change your name easily
you can do that anyway if you open devtools, find the input element for the first name, and just remove "disabled="""
you can just click save and... it saves correctly.

We asked a PSU expert which adapters or extensions are okay for the RTX 50-series. His answer: 'DO NOT BUY adapters or extenders, they can all be dangerous' | PC Gamer
(side-Note: While a bit lengthy of a title, it's a great example of a headline that goes out of the way to show how clickbait isn't always the way.)

My favourite part of this interview? Hmmm...maybe this?

Vikander: What did you learn about craft while writing this, your first book?

De Garis: Craft is a conversation with your materials. It can’t be hurried. It requires attention, patience, and humility. Writing also taught me that craft resists capitalism—not just in theory but in practice. Eighteen months of work for £1250 made that point clearer than any philosophical argument.
