This version mainly features one new addition: Support for Dynamic Type, meaning Toot! will now respect your font size settings in iOS.
This required quite a lot of reworking of internals, so this version is rolling out through a one-week phased release. If you don't absolutely want the dynamic text size, there's no rush to get it, so I recommend leaving it to install on schedule.
Toot! is a client for the Mastodon social network. It is beautiful, and full of character and whimsy.
What makes Toot! special?
- It is delightful. It is full of beautiful design, animation, amusing details and hidden treasures.
The full change list contains a few more small things:
* Support for iOS Dynamic Type. Toot! will now use your font size settings to adjust its text size! * Added an switch to use the OpenDyslexic font to help readers with dyslexia. * When posting multi-part toots, your reply visibility will be automatically used for replies, unless you select otherwise. * Dark mode launch screen to be less blinding. * Small bugfixes and tweaks, but also probably new bugs.
Note that there is no control directly in the app to set the font size. Instead, use the iOS controls for this. To change the font size only in Toot!, use the Control Centre for this. See, for instance, austinmacworks.com/set-custom-…
The tentative features for the next release are probably language-related, and maybe the Explore timeline if I can fit it in somewhere? That should mostly complete the catchup with Mastodon 4 other than the new filter API, which I will probably delay until Mastodon 4 is widely deployed.

I look forward to the language-related features. AFAIK, you can set the language of an AccessibilityLabel, or its NSString, so you can make VoiceOver speak in the language of each toot, if VO supports it. This will be cool for us multilingual users.

@dachary I don't think I'll have much time to do real testing. On my end, it's indeed running on a BananaPi with Armbian, mostly mirroring my repos from different places but also being primary for my local stuff (configurations etc), so it would be bad if it "breaks things". But if the worst thing should "usually" be that the binary isn't starting up, or anything else that could be fixed by just replacing it with the previous Gitea, why not.
I love the intitiative, but I wanted to ask: Will you also add builds for e.g. linux-armv6? I run my own gitea on an OG model-B Raspberry Pi, so an armv6 binary is a must...

Welcome to Innsbruck, Austria again. This time we go to the main train station where I spent a part of my mobility training. Through this training I have learnt that there is a semi-independent way for blind passengers to operate the on-site ticket machine. How come semi, you might ask? Well, on the front of the machine, there is a dedicated customer service number embossed in Braille where you can call and tell the representative where you would like to go. They are able to remotely operate the machine, find your connection, choose the right ticket options for you and bring you to the payment screen. Once the payment is complete, the ticket comes out as usual. Kind of makes me wonder: if the railway staff are able to access these machines remotely, why isn't this possibility open to those who might need it for accessibility reasons? I am not sure whether this works in other Austrian cities, I haven't also heard of this implementation in any other place. arch linux kinda has to be your daily driver, if you only drive it every few weeks, something happens with the engine oil or something? something happens with pacman and the fuel injector gets clogged? and my god when that happens, you get that thing turning and it just rips itself apart, grinding noises, package conflicts, black smoke out the exhaust, and you gotta rebuild the whole thing. because you made a big mistake buddy. you gotta boot it up once per week and run the updates buddy
@fireborn This is no joke. I had it in a VM I didn't run for a month or two, and after that it was so utterly broken no amount of pacman-key and pacman -Syuu could fix it. It was completely out of sync with the universe, key errors everywhere, I couldn't upgrade anything or even try to download new keys to do so.
@Aaron @x0 @josef Hmm, Most likely I'm very lucky. I'm using #archlinux on various computers for about 10 years and I am not experiencing issues like this. I also have an old laptop I am using once or twice a year. I boot it, upgrade archlinux-keyring first, then the rest and I can move on like normal.
The amazing Georges Stavracas Neto has merged the code that adds a grid view to the default file selection dialog in GTK4, completing the work done by him, Matthias Clasen, and Corey Berla that ported the whole dialog away from the deprecated GtkTreeView widgets to the new GTK4 list widgets. George's work will be available in GTK 4.10, next February/March.
