We announced the deprecation of libolm in favour of vodozemac earlier this month, here is a post with some more details.
Welche #Einstellung muss ich auf #GitHub vornehmen, wenn ich über eigene #Kommentare und Kommentare dazu umgehend per #Email informiert werden möchte?
Google murdered Google Reader more than a decade ago. I'm still salty about it. It's now the norm to check social media or a billion newsletters to see what's new.
I've been a Feedly user for more than a decade and I still maintain that RSS feeds are so good.
Using RSS means you can catch up on everything, methodically and chronologically, even if you've been offline, touching grass for a week.
Wir arbeiten nach der Wasserfall-Methode.
D.h. alles geht rauschend den Bach runter.
I got nothing done on music today, but that's okay because I finally took care of some long-delayed cleaning stuff and that took a lot more of my day than I expected
tomorrow I will hopefully work on things for Notions so I can get that one out sooner rather than later, which is a nice break from Transitions.
I need to do artwork for it, also, and while I have some ideas in my head I don't really have the motivation to draw anything. I should maybe commission someone, but, money is an issue
. @etherdiver @zorinlynx but like for example, here's how much money I (as an independent musician) get from the major streaming services on a per-listen basis, from best to worst:
Amazon: $0.015
Apple: $0.008
Pandora: $0.005
YouTube: $0.0025
Spotify: $0
In a typical month I make a whopping total of 81 *cents*, across *all* my music, across *all* streaming platforms.
Please, I reiterate, support musicians directly.
Holy shit, the Rijksmuseum used a 100MP Hasselblad camera to take almost eight and a half THOUSAND photos of the whole of Rembrandt's The Night Watch, for a total image size of 717 GIGAPIXELS. 😳
It's on their website as a zoomable image and you can zoom in so far you can see the individual cracks in the paint: rijksmuseum.nl/en/stories/oper…
This & similar cartoons often pop up on social media.... but that doesn't make them any less telling about our political leaders current & continuing attitudes to climate change.
So here it is again; our short-term thinking will be the end of us

Why do we still call it a "phone" when we use the flash from the camera as a flashlight at least 1000× more often than the phone app?
Yes, I'm using Mastodon on my flashlight.
@hub It's a "consumption rectangle", for large pockets only, I guess.
Or a "magic glass brick" where everyone rubs the glass as if it were a magic lamp with a genie, except the electric genie in our "phone" shows us cat videos and ads instead of wishes.
Politische Karikatur:

From my #inbox
Okay, so after my successful move from mas.to, it's time for a little intro. Basically it's an extended version of my profile description.
I'm a blind guy living in the eastern part of Slovakia, working as Sysadmin. I'm happily married, rather introverted, a cat lover, who enjoys simple moments, such as having a coffee or a drink with my loved ones. I'm passionate about music (listening and mixing), #FMDX, reading both text and audio books in English, Slovak, and Czech. I used to do a lot of OS tinkering (Linux, Windows and Android), but now I prefer the things to be stable and working, rather than experimenting with everything. I prefer the non-proprietary open source stuff whenever possible, but I'm not strict about it.
I'm not a frequent poster, but I do participate in things that interest me.
For more details on my hobbies, see my profile description. Feel free to contact me if you think we have something in common.
I have just read this sentence: "Usually I pick up Starbucks for my morning coffee because it's closer than my local coffee shop and I don't have to put on real clothes to drive through it..."
And I'm just. Staring into the distance in European. You DRIVE to get COFFEE before putting on your CLOTHES? You can't be bothered to put on clothes because you haven't had your morning coffee but you will DRIVE to a fully another location that isn't YOUR FUCKING HOUSE to get it??? You will operate. The machinery! On the roads, that you share with other people! To drive to a location?? When you could just make it at home??
I try not to judge but, dear reader, I am fucking judging 😶
And it was a comment on a post about Starbucks being terrible, their CEO being terrible, and them doing terrible union busting! And this... This is what someone chose to write as a JUSTIFICATION to get Starbucks even though they thought they probably shouldn't?
I am... Collapsing into a black hole. Just. Fuck.
Is there anything stopping Starlink from delivering uncensored cell service to China / Russia / North Korea?
The answer is probably "money", but I can imagine some democratic government sponsoring a project like that in the future.
It'd be extremely funny if Musk turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to free speech after all.
The new Starbucks CEO, Brian Niccol, is going to commute to the office 3 days a week by private jet.
Don't forget to take your reusable cup to the coffee shop!

Automatic contact discovery is a game changing feature! I think I will try it as soon as possible!
Currently I try to avoid #ios, because it's a #GoldenPrison. I know it is hard to achieve discoverability, but making a client that "phone home" to quicksy.im telling "I am number xyz" feels like a trick, a shortcut. But I couldn't find any other way.

One really important Linux thing I learned this week is why insecure people do this behaviour:
*eye roll* just boot from stick/just build your own module/just roll your own server/just invent time travel/just impregnate a unicorn/I can't believe you even had to ask
It's because giving the real answer to a request for instructions would involve admitting that workflow takes you-the-expert 50 steps, they're different every time, they're highly context dependant and involve a lot of embarrassingly arbitrary magic spells.
That shit is hard to explain. It's embarrassing not being instantly able to explain something when you're already insecure. Much less shameful to pretend the thing "just happens".
